Excited for Aliens VS Predator

So, who here cant wait for the new Aliens VS Predator release? I know that I am not the only one. From what I have read/seen it will be in the spirit of the 1999 original, but up to date. AvP was one of the most underrate games and was ahead of its time. Hopefully the new AVP will get the attention of new gamers or gamers who missed out. I remember back in the day hanging out on mplayer playing as an alien vs 3 marine players.

I never did play the original. I remember reading about it on the Jaguar, and thinking it looked bad-ass. I did play the sequel though, and I did thoroughly enjoy it. It wasn't fantastic by any means, and I liked the demo better than the actual game, but I would like to see the game with modern effects.

(The reason I enjoyed the demo more, was because there was an actual fear of the aliens, since if they managed to sneak up on you or caught you while you were running away and shooting at them, you would die. Whereas, in the game, you could survive most encounters with them, taking away much of the fear.)

The jaguar version was not the same as the PC version that AvP2 was based off of.

I thought the original was good, but the environments were much too small. Every time you head shot an alien at the door, acid sprayed all over you. Pretty soon you had a pile of dead aliens outside the room but you were almost dead. AVP2 on the other hand is probably my most favorite game ever, so yeah, I'm pretty jazzed up about it.

Yur missing out. 2nd game was better in many ways. I highly recommend you get ahold of it buy any means. Should be dirt cheap on Amazon or Ebay and maybe even Direct 2 Drive has it.

AVP2 was freakin awesome, and I only played it a few years ago, so even with the dated-as-hell graphics, I still enjoyed it immensely. As I'm generally a graphics whore, that means this game rocked.

Most scary game (avp1) I've played, and the online matches are nuts (1&2).

In an interview with the Rebellion senior producer David Brickley, CVG pointedly mentioned that "There's been a lot of controversy this month surrounding Modern Warfare 2 and its ditching of PC dedicated server," and "Historically AvP is obviously a big PC game. How are you making sure you support the PC version and keep your community happy?
Replied Brickley:

This is a title that we want to support for a long time to come. If it's not been announced yet then certainly the PC version will benefit from Direct X 11 features. That's one thing we can use to make sure that people who invest in the hardware will get the absolute best.

Uhm, yes, but the question was about dedicated servers, right? CVG pressed on with:

Well the one thing we can say is obviously running an operation like that is monumentally expensive. For the period the original was up, people who played that game got an incredible experience.
You know what the internet's like. We're obviously used to getting things for free over the years. I guess on our side the thing we're focusing on is whatever your set-up at home, you get the best possible experience from it. We're just trying to use our time and resources wisely.

We think we've got our answer here, but just to get it for the record, CVG asks:

CVG: So is that a yes or a no on the dedicated servers?
Brickley: As I said the game is still quite a way from release so I guess there are other things to be determined during that time.

I still remember aliens with rocket launchers in AvP1 MP. That was so funny the fact they where cheating didn't upset you.

There was a problem with some users during the merge. Your old posts are under user imported_wheels

If you ask in TFI they should be able to merge the two.

It looks like it could be a good game. I always wonder how the inter species balance will work out. AvP2 was fairly well balance, iirc, but AvP1 heavily favored the predators.

AvP 3 is out now.... BUT all copies, physical or digital, require Steam drm.

Really a shame, looks like I'll be doing a one week rental on console until it's on sale for $10. I don't buy steam games at full price unless its' MP focused, online activation being the killer (and please, spare me your testimonial that everyone in the entire world must have constant and reliable internet access).

I do hope it's a good game.

I know people hated the demo that was released, though it was MP only (no SP campaign was included). So, who knows. I'll wait and hear how it is.

Played the demo and was not impressed at all. Maybe if Steam does a deal for it I'll buy it but the demo didn't make me want to buy the game at all.

I'm pretty psyched about the game. I loved the original AvP and i'm hoping to get the whole office into AvP3.

I played the demo, and at first didn't care for it, especially the alien controls. However, after spending a day with it, figured everything out and love the game.

The steam forums are overloaded with 'x is overpowered'...which one could argue that it shows how well balanced it really is. I've seen every race mop the floor....exciting
