Well after seeing this Spring's new phones, last Fall's Note 3 is still looking pretty awesome. Only advancement the Spring 2014 phones bring is the Snapdragon 801, and that's really just a small clock bump from the 800.
I needed to get myself an Android work phone (not sure if it'll replace my personal Nexus 5 yet or not). And after seeing the Galaxy S5, One 2014, and that stuff from Sony and LG. I was more drawn to the large 5.7 inch display and pen on the Note 3 rather than anything that just launched. Though the One 2014 with it's front facing speakers was tempting, I decided I wanted the bigger screen and pen more.
So far I'm impressed with the Note 3. It fits in my pocket fine (was worried about that), the speaker sounds better than my Nexus 5 and better than I remember Samsung speakers being in the past, though I still wouldn't call it great. Pen feels nice to write with (nubs seem to have a texture that makes it feel like writing on paper sorta). I miss having buttons on the bezel, I was never a fan of the on screen buttons wasting screen space. And thank god for the faux leather improvement, feels much better in the hand than the glossy plastic phones from before.
I did get a Note 3 with a defective screen, has a noticeable blue tint at the bottom. But I'm having Verizon send me a replacement.
Overall, despite this phone being about half a year old now. It still looks like a great choice amongst the new offerings.
