Battery life so far has been pretty bad for me. I unplugged from 100% 9 hours ago and I'm already at 50% with barely any usage.... with Google Services taking up more battery life than my screen! What's up with that? lol
Probably downloading the local data (maps etc) for your area. It will happen when you activate or clean flash. Freaking out and disabling it is not the answer.

True, I'll give it a few days to calm down. But it dropped from 58% to 32% overnight and down to 21% by the time I got into work.

Battery life has been excellent for me. Yesterday did 2 hours of Google Nav, 2 hours of video watching, at least a full hour of web browsing, and the usual 10-20 emails/texts/chats and by bed time I was down to 38%. My HTC One would have died after the videos and navigating.

Edit: Can any other Note 3 owners tell me how picture taking is for them? I get a "Processing" window with a loading bar that takes a couple of seconds between every shot, it's kinda annoying and definitely feels like a bug because the Note 2 was not like this.

The T-Mobile Note 3 has all the AT&T and T-Mobile frequencies, including the 850 LTE band that T-Mobile doesn't even use.

Wow, thanks for that. I'm on TMO but wife is on ATT. I'd probably get it to use for a few months and give it to her.

Bought my T-Mobile version unlocked for use with AT&T from NegriElectronics.com Saved well over $100 off T-Mo's price thanks to a $20-off coupon code from SlickDeals.net and no tax.

hopefully you get it.. I ordered one and never got a shipping notification, ended up finding one locally but they haven't even acknowledged my cancellation past the auto-email when you submit the form.

That's not right, seriously.

PM me or reply here if you want me to help you figure out what's causing the wakelock. You'll need the android sdk/platform-tools

So I figured out the slow picture taking issue. Apparently having the Smart Stabilization feature turned on causes the slowdown. I can now do a proper burst mode.

Looks like I have to buy the phone outright to keep my plan. Not sure I want to drop ~$850 for this phone. Seems a bit much.

My brother has a note 3. He charged his phone twice and is at 84% now (we got our phones on release date). I charged mine 3 times and I'm at 67% now. I unplugged at 12pm and was at 80% by the time I got home.

When I use the phone, it gets very hot very quickly (right around where the camera is). I just factory reset it and only updated the apps that are already on the phone. I'm going to let it drain overnight and see if I have the same problems... but yea, the phone was running hot the second I turned it on. There is something seriously wrong.

edit: I'll see if this factory reset solves my problems, but seriously the only apps I downloaded, I used everyday on my GNexus. Never had a wakelock issue on my old phone. If I still have problems, I'll probably end up returning the phone. But I'll take you up on the troubleshooting if I still have issues tomorrow!

Wonder why there's such a difference win Anand's VS ARS's battery life tests.

Endorsements? Anandtech seems to be doing a great job of condoning some of the dirty things Samsung has been accused of lately...

Well, you probably never got a shipping notice because they aren't shipping it yet (still in preorders). I can't speak for their cancellation process though.

I know they have great Reseller Ratings, are trusted/recommended by many on XDA-forums, and have the best price, so I'm willing to wait.

lol - gotta roll my eyes at this plus it being from a guy who has the Optimus G Pro which had horrible battery performance in reviews (of course your experience is different I'm sure).

Most other reviews seem to corroborate Anandtech's review - for example see GSMarena at

http://blog.gsmarena.com/samsung-galaxy-note-3-battery-life-test/

From owning it today, once I got through the first hour of constant downloading all my apps and such, the battery life seems at least on par with my Note 2 and massively better than my Nexus 4, which doesn't jive with the Ars review.

I won't get a good sense for a few more days, but the Ars review seems the outlier. However, some users do seem to be experiencing an indexing issue which drains the battery much more quickly than normal until it's done.

Personally after loading my sdcard with a couple hundred pictures and a dozen or so HD movies, no issues so far. Also not having the Gallery issue either as it snaps right up, though I only have the mentioned couple hundred pictures.

Hey guys, I'm wondering, as someone who bought a Note 2 release week, (had to sit a few days to get it on the $30/mo plan) and has loved it, but has used it more for reading than web surfing (spend too much time in front of a PC) do you think it's worth upgrading, or should I wait for the Note 4?

Well, I don't have this phone so my arguments is as strong as the next opinion and I'm not interested in picking a fight with lemmings. Just going by what another reviewer said and it seems to echo what people here are complaining about here.

As for the Optimus G Pro. Yes I have it and the battery life is great. I have no complaints in that department.

I went in with every intention to buy this phone. something about touchwiz that I can't stand... that paired with the sammys capacitive buttons really bothers me. maybe if they could at least put the back button on the left I could deal with it.

on top of it, it feels huge. I know that will probably go away with time, but I really think 4.7-5" is the right size for me.

and then to seal the deal 300 on contract and 720+ out right is a lot of money

I am really drawn to the moto x, but no removable battery concerns me. I think I am going to wait it out and see what is what with the nexus 5.... still though, no removable battery on that either

I bought the Note 2 when it was released and was unimpressed with the Note 3 when it announced. I bought a G2 on Monday and 4 days later I exchanged that for the Note 3. It is leagues better than the Note 2 in nearly every way. The screen is very nice and the phone itself is lighter and easier to hold. My personal satisfaction with this device over the G2 is night and day.

If you are considering getting the Note 3 and you can afford it, I'd say it's definitely worth it. I foolishly paid full price and I have no regrets at all.
