Woot, my VZ Note 3 shipped today, had to change the CC I used on it, recieved a new card after I pre ordered, the CSR was feeding me crap about the unlimited data, saying I'd be offered a choice of tiered data plans, I'm just listening...

Told her I was well aware VZ was allowing those of us who upgraded during the "glitch" that we would be allowed to upgrade and keep our unlimited data.

She told me that wasn't the case, and what was my source?

I offered to link her to the official Verizon press release, and she caved, admitted I got to keep my unlimited data, LOL.

Glad I updated my card, since they just charged me for it and shipped the Note 3, 4 hours later.

Got my S-view case today and it's similar to the back of the Note 3 and overall a much better feeling case than the Note 2 flip cover. Having the phone turn on when you open the cover is surprisingly convenient.

Excitement is building again! Negri finally started shipping the unlocked T-Mobile Note 3 phones today.

13MP, because I'd rather crop it myself than have the phone do it for me.
Even if you are cropping yourself you would very rarely crop to 16:9 (only desktop/phone wallpapers and video production come to mind).

Quick battery life update - seems a bit better than my Note 2. I've used it for the last 2.5 work days and it's been pretty consistent:

- starting with full charge at 7am
- on cellular data all day until I get home - my commute and work are in bad connection zones so it cycles through LTE, 4G and 3G throughout the day
- GPS and bluetooth enabled with my Pebble connected and pushing notifications
- only email is setup to sync every 15 minutes

So at 4pm (9 hours total), I'm sitting at 55% with 2.5 hours of on screen time, about 30 minutes of local music playing, about 45 minutes of Pandora streaming, and 30 minutes of taking notes with the S-pen.

My Nexus 4 would have certainly died by this point, and probably earlier.

In the weekends when I'm in NYC all day and cellular connection is much better, my battery life is significantly better. When I'm working from home and on wifi most of the day, my battery life is basically tablet-like.

Thats pretty decent and thanks for sharing the details. It sounds like your enjoying the phone. I am slowly starting to want one too. As a suggestion, try keeping the cell fixed at 3G. I wonder if you get alot better battery life.

Finally got to see a Note 3 in the flesh while on vacation last week. To me, the look and feel is just near perfection in a smart phone. It's everything I liked about the Note 2, combined with the good looks of the original SGS2, with a phenomenal screen to match. If I could custom design my own device to suit my needs, I probably couldn't get much better.

Much as I'm still happy with my N2, I simply must own an N3. The only question for me is, can I hold out until early 2014 as I planned, or will I cave in before then?

Battery life is better than the note 2. 12 hours of heavy usage. Lots of email, social networking, non stop streaming Google music and finished the day watching a hd rip of Captain America.

Finally got my Note 3 setup the way I like thanks to the root method available for AT&T that doesn't trigger the Knox flag.

Basics: Nova launcher + some customized gestures, screen mode set to Movie, adjust screen off, motion gestures off, most of the smart screen stuff off, Lux Dash to control brightness +5%

Others: Root, set dpi to 360 in build.prop, use app settings in xposed framework to modify the dpi of some specific apps to stock or other values.

The big plus is that the status bar and the header of apps aren't taking up a huge waste of space and allows for more 'usable' screen.

Front - status bar is shrunk

Notifications - smaller

Back - the new back (stock or the S-view case) is a big improvement over the glossy plastic, even if it is still plastic.

That back looks better than I thought it would. Does the stock back look as good? (thats the S view back yes?)

The stock back looks almost identical to that, just has stitching on all 4 sides, people seem to like it, and it really looks good for being a thin piece of plastic, I was surprised. Between the texture of the back and the ridges on the fax metal band, it feels a world less slippery too.

What's that clock and weather widget on the bottom? Looks familiar but I don't remember the name...

I didn't look around very much here - I use HD Widgets and downloaded their Colourform add-on. It's one of their 4X1 widgets stretched by Nova and set with a transparent background.

As for the question about the back - it's similar to the stock back, though the S-view case has a bit of a lip on both front and back (creating the book like feel) which I like. The stock back is flush with the back. I'd say the material feels *slightly* better on the s-view case but that's only touching both at the same time. They are certainly similar, though the big plus is not having the ugly carrier branding.

If you like flip cases and understand the pros and cons, it's a great one - especially as the inside front is no longer a felt like material that picks up tons of junk, but the same pleather.

The HTC One Maxx is exactly what I thought it shouldn't be as a phablet - quite large and heavy. Even though it has a .2" larger screen, the on screen buttons eat up a bunch of that. So you get a usable screen that's a bit larger in a body that's much larger.

http://cdn.gsmarena.com/pics//13/10/htc-one-max-hands-on/gsmarena_009.jpg

Also, I thought the Note 2 weight of 183 g was borderline for everyday phablet use and the Note 3 weight was a welcome change. Going the other way by 30% over the Note 2 is the wrong way.

Note 3
151.2 x 79.2 x 8.3 mm
168 g (5.93 oz)

One Maxx
164.5 x 82.5 x 10.3 mm
217 g (7.65 oz)

just picked one up .. very nice phone. Is there a way to setup a double click on the home button to launch Google Now/Search or replace the long press menu button with Google Now or Google Search?

S-Voice sucks.

S-Voice sucks.

You'd have to download a 3rd party launcher.

Did anyone notice in the settings for S Voice there's an option to wake up the device from sleep by saying "Hi Galaxy"? I tried it and it works pretty good, but I'd be more interested in getting to Google Now, not S Voice.
