Ver 4.4.21 it hit my note 3 yesterday and my Asus memo hd today. Hasn't hit my s4 yet.
I'm not busting on you, because I've done my share of similar head-scratching at goofy updates from Google lately **cough** Maps **cough**

…but really, it took you an hour just to tap the upper left corner?

Slightly used note3's on ebay for $600-650, sometimes less (way less). Holy shit that is some terrible resale value.

Holy crap, already? I'm actually thinking about dumping my note 3 for a Nexus 5. I was trying to recoup some cash but...that doesn't sound good if the prices are already dropping.

yup, I was shocked. I think I'm going to dump the iPhone5 64gb I just bought so I can buy a used note3. O_O

I saw a handful of barely used Note3's that sold for <$500.

Played with a Note 3 for a little while today. Not bad. Samsung still won't win me over with TouchWiz, but it felt snappy enough and I much prefer the textured back (it was white one) over the GS4. I could definitely recommend the Note 3 over anything else right now at the moment to anyone who is okay with TouchWiz. Still prefer my One to it, but it has a lot of features that fit me better than perhaps other users' usage.

I really feel the Note 3 is pretty big, but it makes sense if you aren't going to use a 7" or greater tablet at all. I like having a smaller (4.3" to 4.7") phone and a tablet, but the Note 3 is an acceptable compromise. Anything bigger I would rule out immediately. No opinion on the pen, except if I was good at freehand drawing I would probably use it a lot. Seems good for drawing but I don't use styli/pens for navigating an OS and haven't since resistive touch screens.

So far this is the only Samsung phone that I've liked. I've never been drawn to the Galaxy S series.

Show me any phone that I can't find on eBay for hundreds less than it's current inflated retail price.

And show me a clean Note 3 for "way less" than $600.

Try finding any 5s for hundreds below current retail price. I don't want to turn this into an Apple v Android debate; it just appears the most effective use of a subsidy is buying an iPhone, selling it on eBay, and then buying the latest android flagship on eBay...

Most of those if you read the listings carefully list damage I certainly wouldn't put up with- cracked camera lens, scratches on screen, dropped and dented, bad imie, or just a general vagueness about condition (test unit) whatever that means.

The iPhone 5S is $649 at the cheapest and I can easily find it on eBay for $500. Fine, granted not "hundreds" less, but $150 less.

The real difference is, although the Note 3 is an awesome phone, it's really not quite worth it's $800 retail price. Anyone expecting to be able to use it then sell it for close to $800 is a bit crazy. None of these phones are really worth their retail price.

Prospective Note owners should be aware of the Note's resale value. Unlike the S4/S3, you will not be able to sell it for a similar % of original value, much less an iPhone.

While not probably as bad as the above if in immaculate condition (though like any phone you might find a good deal), I found selling my Note 2 to be a bit more difficult than my S3 (good not great condition, 1 year old - was able to sell it for $420 on eBay which equates to more like $370 on swappa). My theory is that as great as the Note is and it has a passionate user base, it is still a relatively niche phone compared to the mainstream S4 or iPhone. Those phones sell tens of millions more and are in the 'sweet spot' for their markets.

The Note is definitely not for everyone and was never supposed to be for everyone. For me - the ownership experience is absolutely worth the lower resale cost.

32gb at&t note2 is like $350-$400 on ebay right now. I sold my iphone4s 16gb for $275+ shipping 3 weeks ago O_O

I don't think AT&T got the 32GB Note 2 (or any other US carrier) BTW. While there's no doubt iPhones hold their value better, the depreciation curve probably isn't as steep in year 1-2 vs 0-1.

I upgrade every year, with once every 2 year being through contract renewal. Doing this for the Note 2 and Note 3 ended up costing me about $300 total for the two years (one subsidized phone, one full price phone, selling previous phones online).

With the Note 3 (and future) having the base size at 32GB and Apple's markup on the 32GB version, the economics aren't fundamentally different (especially in light of the amount spent on service). Doing the same with the 32GB iPhone every year probably ends up costing someone $0-100 over the two years.

Upgrading only every 2 years probably makes the difference insignificant - I'd feel pretty confident that next year a 2 year old Note 2 can still fetch at least $200.

My Note 3 next to my now obsolete Note 2. (Went with white just to mix things up a bit, never owned a white phone before.)

Freaking loving the Note 3 so far. It's pretty much the perfect device for me.

Is there a substantial difference between white and black models? I vaguely remember reading something about different textures or something like that.

The black one is slightly rubberized for a better grip and feel. The white one is textured plastic, still slick though less slick than smooth plastic.

How is the sound on the note 3 compared to the 2 (including iem) ? One thing about the note 2 that took me by surprise is the quality of the DAC and speakers. I've heard the speakers on the note 3 kind of suck but no clue if they also used a lower quality DAC...

my note 3 speaker is worse than my note 2. i thought moving it to the bottom would help but nope, its actually weaker than the note 2 and my wife's S4. However, I don't listen to music on the phone speaker so it doesn't bother me at all. For notifications, games, youtube and whatever it's plenty loud for me.

on a related note, i sold my 16gb unlocked at&t note2 last week for $350. I did get some scumbag steves low balling me at $250...

Speaker is meh but the Sq from headphones and power amp is, Imo pretty damn good. It's better than any iPhone and much better than my S1 through S4.

Exact same experience as others: I notice the Note 3 speaker is more shrill than the Note 2. But I also don't use the phone speaker much so it doesn't make any difference to me. I'm no audiophile by any means- comparing listening to music with headphones on both the N2 and N3 sounds identical to me, and to my ears, sounds very good.

N2 is about to get wiped and sold for whatever I can get for it.

Unrelated to the N3 specifically, but rather to Google's idiocy, my only issue is now I'm stuck with the crappy useless upgrade of Maps that blows total chunks. No more uninstalling updates back to the original Nav app which actually works logically.

So basically, I've been downgraded to garbage choices for GPS navigation on the N3. (And I pretty much hate everything I've tried compared to the original Google Nav app which just worked perfectly and the most logical for use in a car.) Double-suck is that I have a big roadtrip coming up.

Google is just the worst sometimes, why they had to screw up one of the best Android features is beyond me.
