GA-8IHXP what I'm waiting for...

I'm ready for the GA-8IHXP!!! ///////////////////////
I've got the Processor P4 2.26GHz/533Mhz FSB
I've got the RDRAM 4 x KVR1066X16-4/128

Anybody know why Gigabyte is using a - Realtek LAN chip and a
- NEC 720100 USB2.0 controller chip

When they have the ICH4 isn't it suppose to have these features integrated
as part of it?...

The 850E chipset does not have ICH4, so manufacturers still need to use they're own USB2 chips.

I have a concern about this board, dont raid controllers blow out faster than most Standard IDE controllers?
Arent there compatibility issues with Promise Raid Controllers and certain software?
I like having the ability for 8 IDE channels on board, but is it going to be stable and reliable?

I so much want this board, but it hasnt even been released to the distributers or the resellers, despite the available now stated on the Web Site. I wanna know why not and whenit will be.

I saw in another thread that it may be mid-month before it's available...the voltage incompatability between 850E MHC and the ICH4 has me concerned as well...I suppose gigabyte has the resourses to resolve that issue. ASUS wasn't willing to take on the challenge as related in a article at ExtremeTech

ExtremeTech

This may be why it's behind schedule...I don't want them to rush it out if it's not stable...

GA-8IHXP! Thanks for the "exreme tech" article galtsfan.. very helpful. I to am waiting anxiousely for the Gigabyte GA-8IHXP. Im a mac user. Tired of the incompatibility of my mac.. I'm assembling my first PC!! Wanting to try and simulate the power of the apple G4 (dual gig) i'm assembling an "ultimate" PC.. a MoNstEr!.. "It's AliVe" im PUMPED! (btw-UT2003 JUNE 18th!)

I've worked the net up and down (hardware reviews and round-ups). Over a months research.. and hours lolol of "ram" reading and reviews.. i have purchased the following:

-Gainward GeForce Ti4600, P4 2.53, two sticks 256 pc1066 rdram, cheetah 35gig HD, coolermaster case. you can imagine lol my anticipation of the final piece.. the GA-8IHXP

will this voltage (1.8v/1.5v) issue between the I850E chipset and ICH4 to resolve? If it does'nt is there any loss in using an Asus, Iwill, or Abit bord that uses the 850E chip set with ICH2 south bridge??? thank you

ps- im actually pretty broke right now.. i just know how to prioritize.

"The result is a board that doesn't follow specifications, which is also less stable and may have long-term reliability issues."

Hmm... Is Asus firing a shot across Gigabyte's bow? Or is it just coincidence. Either case, I'm waiting for reviews before I buy anything.

Well Gigabyte is no longer the only MB maker to pair up the 850E and the ICH4 it seems MSI has a demo at the COMPUTEX 2002 in Tiawan.

MSI

Their 850E Max MS-6592 will join the few innovators...

I have just noticed that Newegg has taken the Gigabyte GA-8IHXP off of their website. It was on last evening for around $170 and now it is not shown at all. Anyone know more on this situation? Can't find it for sale anywhere at the moment.

Well, in a side by side comparison with all other 850E boards, to include Asus P4T533 and RIMM4200
Gigabyte came out on top. Read about it over at THG

Although this review is insightful it left some questions unanswered...were these benches at the stock speed? If so, why does he show a WCPUID screen of a 2.53Ghz processor with a internal clock speed of 2850Mhz and a front side bus of 150Mhz?

WCPUID

Am I reading this right?
