Excuses to Reschedule an appointment?

I've got an appointment on Thursday that I won't be able to make, and if asked, I'd rather not say why. What are some good excuses you've used to get out of a prior engagement?

just say 'personal business' or something vague if its at a business or practice or something.

What about something like "It seems I have another appointment that I was unaware of"? Then if they ask, I could just say "I'd rather not discuss it" or something.

Seriously, just say you have a prior engagement. Or if that won't fly, wait til the day of and say you have a family emergency.

I miss a lot of meetings which tend to piss a lot of people off, but my schedule is volatile. My excuse is usually, "business obligations won't allow...." Might as well tell the truth. People generally know if you're lying anyway.

Agreed. Make up some excuse that is roughly true.
