I don't think you know what the word paradox means.
How much are you expecting to pay in rent? I've always heard that Tokyo has some of the highest real estate prices in the world, but I don't know what rent is actually like.
I don't think you know what the word paradox means.
My exact thought.
It is a paradox that food prices are cheap in the city with the highest cost of living in the world.
If that isn't a paradox then please put your mouth to the screen and blow me. I majored in applied math in undergrad, not English.
No its not, lies. Eating BETTER FOOD might be more expensive in the city (not better as in taste, but more like luxury foods) but that is only a function of the fact that better food is easier to get in the city than anywhere else
It is actually extremely cheap to eat well in large cities, because of efficient ways of stocking food as well as economies of scale.
NYC I could probably go on 10 dollars a day in food and ever go hungry. While if I go into the middle of nowhere, lets say Vermont, I'm paying 10 dollars per meal
Cost of food and property costs are not correlated necessarily. Cheap places to eat in japan are janitorial closet sized, but I can eat well for 3 dollars.
The highest cost of living in the world 100% directly comes from the fact that there is no space, not from food prices.
Actually, you're wrong. They are highly correlated. The cost of owning or renting that property is passed on to the consumer. That is why people pay more for a Big Mac in NYC than they do in West Bubblefuck, Wherever. Based on my experience, food are cheaper in Japan. This includes food at the supermarket.
That would only be true if higher property costs also corrletaed with constant or rising property area owned.
Like I said, cheap places to eat in Japan tend to be tiny. Many noodle places are literally 4 shoulder widths long and 1.5 shoulder widths wide.
With areas that small, property costs probably aren't that much higher than a local NYC restaraunt.
it's cheaper because the portions are for teh tiny people
i thought whale meat was expensive?
The regular citizenry in Japan has most likely never indulged in Whale or Dolphin meat.
I'm ok with you living in japan as long as you're not one of those kids that goes to japan because they think anime is the greatest thing ever.

Yea...that's not true. It's not common or popular, but a majority of people have tried it.
Tried, yes...but do they eat it often? No.
Dolphin Meat especially...thats some expensive shit right there. If you live in rural ocean town like the one documented in "The Cove", then yea...your kids probably get Dolphin for lunch. But in the major metro areas, naw.
Sorry...I was under the impression that "never indulged" meant never had it...
Not a fan of dolphin...whale's somewhat tasty.
From what I hear, poaching Dolphins isn't even a popular thing in Japan and that most Japanese do not know that it takes place.
They're missing out. the macros are pretty good.
