I currently have an HP Pvailion dv9000 that I bought about 3 years ago. It still runs great and I wouldn't even be looking for a new laptop except one of the hinges went a while ago and my jury-rigged fix has failed. I've had a hard time narrowing it down because there seem to be a lot more options now than the last time I was laptop shopping. I'm looking at picking up the Toshiba A505D-S6987. The monitor is a bit smaller than the one I have now, but I'm traveling more so I'm ok with that. It should be a lot faster, which is nice for me as I do a lot of computationally intensive computing. I guess I was wondering if anyone has any experience with Toshiba laptops, especially with respect to durability. Any general comments on this choice would also be appreciated. Thanks!
edit: Thought I should also add that I don't care what it looks like and I did read the AT review on the Toshiba A505D-S6987, but it's not really the same animal as the one I've linked to above, so I'm not sure it's terribly relevant. I'll basically use this for lots of typing, coding, and scientific computing.
