Honestly,

Why are you seeking so hard for her approval. The "I'm sorry.", "I don't mean to offend.", "I don't want to annoy you."

Dude, be a man, put on the pants, and say "I'm homophobic, if you don't like it, too bad..." She will be "Oh great, you jerk", and 10 minutes later she'd be calling you wanting to get into your pants.

Women are attracted to strength. In order to have strength you can't grovel at their feet. Stand your ground.

Honestly, what I would have changed in this conversation:

Me: are you offended?

That should be been:

Me: So it sounds like a date, I look forward to it.

(and the rest of the nonsense would have went away)

I'm not homophobic, though. I don't really appreciate the immediate knee-jerk reaction to a phrase that automatically labels me homophobic.

On another note, talking in person or on the phone prolly would help avoid these stupid, pretty little arguments that go on forever for no apparent reason...people will say anything on IM...there are more filters the more real a person gets (in person > on the phone > IM > email)

it appears he wanted to but she shut him down.

dude sounds like a major whiny bitch. had someone kept at it like he did, i would have done the same thing as her.

After going through about 1/3 of this and then scrolling down, it's easy to see your mistake: you refuse to drop things. When a person says that they don't really care / feel like talking about something, or show signs that it makes them agitated, then chances are it's not worth talking about with them unless it involves financial matters or matters of health (such as someone getting sick, or talking about a rent check etc.)

You basically keep digging yourself a deeper hole and making things worse.

What if this behavior is typical? Frequent one-way criticism, with no discussion?

Are your really asking what to do in the case that a girl is constant condescending bitch? well that should be obvious....never talk to her again.

So basically you believe you can express whatever opinion you'd like, and not be called on it?

ftw, you are a retard for letting this go any longer than 2 or 3 exchanges.

and by "dropping it" i don't mean saying "lets just drop the subject", at that point you have gone WAY too far, which is why she gets pissed when you want to drop the subject. I mean you should have seen this coming and avoided it with a "whatever, what are we going to do this weekend?" or something like that.

I read enough of that conversation to come up with a few conclusions.

1. This chick has issues
2. You have issues with this chick
3. This chick likes to start fights
4. She's chatting with someone else while she chats with you
5. You need to drop her and get laid by the next beer ho you meet....badly.

Fair enough. What would your response have been?

You both talk too damn much. She seems like an overanalytical b1tch and you had some kind of passive-aggressive masturbation-fest going on.

I had a friend who took this approach a few years back...turns out he took home the fat chick with his beer goggles on, then he ended up like Bibble in the other thread hanging around the top of the world today...

So, you think you're going to argue her into your point of view? Not going to happen. If your girl was very submissive and considered you her intellectual superior, then maybe that might work. But she obviously feels that's she's equal or superior to you, and is not going to give ground.

So your choices are to constantly have never-ending argument in which you eventually back down anyway, or to deal with her snap judgements without argument, the same way she's willing to deal with your homophobia without argument.

Your pride is going to cause you a girlfriend. You're already losing a lot of her respect, which is essential for a girl to stay interested in you.

I'm going to disagree with Iceberg Slim for once, and say that it's not that you're approval-seeking. It's that you have an obsessive need to be right, and are not above intellectual bullying. That is why your girl will no longer argure with you... because she knows that it will never end until she tells you that you are right, which she doesn't believe.

OP, you are not going to like this, but you made that into what it is by pushing the gay thing on her. She handled her self very maturely, you did not. I seriously suggest you seek counseling.

What should I tell the counselor I'm there to be helped with?

She has no respect for you and I can understand why. The only mystery is why she hasn't dumped you. Who knows, maybe she's into verbally abusing sackless men.
