I think this is good price esp for x6, even the ones used on ebay go for higher than this. but only question here is how reliable is the rebate?

The rebate is handled by 4myrebate, so it should be as reliable as any other that's handled by them.

I've never had a rebate denied by 4myrebate unless I count the one time I postmarked it later beyond the time frame allowed from date of purchase.

Means very little. Seagate mailed my paperwork back and said it was missing the UPC. That was bullshit because I had the UPC STAPLED to the form and it was returned with the staple hole but no UPC attached.

even without the rebate, $130 for a X6 Thuban chip beats the pants off all of the X4 Deneb chips that sell for more, even with the 1035T's lower clock frequency...

I take it that these can be O/Ced decently in spite of the lower multi?

Wow, great price seeing as these X6 chips have almost dried up completely.

I would love to get this... As I'm already running a Phenom II, I probably just need a BIOS update and I could easily just drop it in, but *sigh*I think I'll just save up a wee bit longer for SB/IB.

Thank you OP for posting this. You made me do an impulse buy but it was for a good cause

You are going to make one of my friend (also coworker) very happy. I was planning on getting him two computers for his family I cobbled together out of salvage parts, but the price was right that I bought this and donating it to the build.

1) Computer 1: Originally it was going to be a amd be-2300 (amd 64x2 at 1.9 ghz aka k9 generation that is prior to phenom). Now it is going to be this 6 core beast (amd phenomII x6 2.6 to 3.1 ghz aka k10.5)
4gb of ddr2, 750gb hard drive, Windows 7 Home Premium.

2) Computer 2: AMD E-350 in an itx case with 8gb ddr3 and a 160gb 2.5" Fujitsu. Windows 7 Home Premium

I repeat, Thank You again.

One tip for rebates is to take a picture of all your materials in a close pile, and mention in an attached sticky note that you have pics. Heck even print out the picture and include it. That way they cannot deny anything was missing.

great tips. i hate rebates, but maybe these tips will prevent problems.

you could also go get your form notarized. then you can have it delivered secured with signature upon receipt. finally, file a preemptive police report. make copies of all those actions (best to take an HD video of the whole process) and include it with your submission. this is the best way to get your $10 back.

WUT???

Why would you do such a thing? Anyways, I don't even think rebates are a police matter, are they? They wouldn't be criminal actions, rather, they would be civil suits, wouldn't it.

LOL this is a totally civil matter. Imagine how filled criminal courts would be if a tenant could file a police report on a landlord for holding the security. Lolz

Never had a problem with rebates. Though, I would read the rebate form carefully, I almost got burned in December from TD when I purchased the MSI board (in my sig) - the board was advertised with a rebate, but it was actually a rebate for a different MSI board. Fortunately, Amex sided with me and I still got my $30 that I would have received had the rebate really applied. (If it didn't, I would have bought a cheaper board).

People need to build more mini itx boards. This processor plus mini itx board makes a badass little machine.

what might the power consumption difference be at idle between this and the 65wTDP 4 core version?

You confuse me...in one thread for $4 you told the OP to benevolently donate his money to Newegg and not bother trying to get a refund....but for $10 you advise another person to go to all the trouble of contacting a notary public...make numerous copies...file a police report....and make an HD video. All of which would probably cost the person MORE than $10.
