like the title says, the Crucial M4 256GB SSD can be had right now for only $180 shipped!!!

product link: Crucial M4 256GB SSD
price in cart: $199.99 shipped (which is already a great deal)
promo code: 24HRSALE606D
price after code: $179.99 shipped

also, please see this alternative deal on another Crucial M4 256GB SSD w/ a slightly different part # (this one comes w/ a 3.5" drive bay adapter, but that appears to be the only difference between them) for $210 shipped...i'd say this deal is luke warm, not hot, b/c i don't think a 3.5" drive bay adapter is worth the extra $30...

product link: Crucial M4 256GB SSD
price in cart: $229.99 shipped
promo code: EMCYTZT1717
price after code: $209.99 shipped

both deals are available for only 24 hours, and both are still in stock at the egg...happy shopping everyone!

Thanks Sunny. First deal's a repost, but second one might be useful for those who need the adapter? Then again, Amazon has some decent deals on aftermarket adapters that might be worth checking out?

Can we officially say the bottom has dropped out on these things?

i just joined the comunity after a few years on the sidelines, what were SSD prices before? can someone actaully operate a PC with only 256 GB SSD? I asume they need a 1 TB HD on the side.

Well, prices were about 50%-100% higher about a year ago depending on capacity.

As for running off a 256gb, it's absolutely possible. Just depends what you actually need to have access to and want loading/running at the speeds available.

Also, these work great in laptops that typically already operate with lower capacities.

Basically, the benefits for the price make it compelling, but only you know your usage needs.

Until a couple weeks ago, I was running on an 80GB (really ~74GB) Intel SSD, which cost me over $200 when I bought it.
All my programs were on the ssd. Secondary drives were used for storing VM's and media.
So, possible to operate? Yes, very possible.

your welcome

i just checked both of the deals i listed above, and both are still in stock! i remember when the Samsung 830 128GB was selling for $110 shipped AC @ newegg a week or 2 ago, and that sold out in no time at all...

Insane deal. So tempting, have an m4 64gb now for my OS and programs, could definitely use more space. But I want to get an 830. At this price though... so tempting!

Seems to be the same price ($180) at amazon with no code, no nothing. At least for now. Amazon pricing seems to fluctuate often, though.

Great price, didn't expect to see them go below $200 anytime soon. How much lower can they drop?

Running VM's off an SDD has to be a massive improvement.

Can you clone one from the secondary drive to an SDD
and do speed test difference?

Prices were 50% higher two months ago when I bought this exact drive for $309 (from Newegg). The price has been plummeting, which is refreshing, but somewhat irritating given what I paid for mine.

I cloned my Intel G2 80GB to a M4 128GB and it was almost twice as fast. Of course that is going from Sata 2 to Sata 3. I have the AS SSD benchmark pics if you want me to post them.

Maybe I'll later eat my words, but a 256GB M4 SSD for $179, I don't see how you could go wrong.
Am I wrong?

Even if it goes down to $169 anytime soon, which may or may not happen, you still have a very fast, highly reliable, 256GB SSD.
I have been living with an Intel G2 160GB for a couple of years that I paid $330 for as an open box from Newegg and only recently have they (now Intel 320) come down to that price.
Once again, am I wrong?

Oh, and in for one M4 256 at Amazon!

Ya, M4 for $180 or Samsung 830 for $200... hmm

For those that are brave, you can price match Staples to Amazon on the M4 and use the $25.00 coupon (small fee through various sites) and get it $164.99 or less (assuming Staples is still matching).

i ended up getting an M4 64GB through Staples online, price matched to Amazon, minus that $25 coupon, for $55 and change (shipped free to a local store for pick-up)...i can't find the print out of the coupon this instant, but i know it said it expires sometime this month.

what do you mean hulk, what'd you pay for yours

I paid $220 for my Intel 320 120GB! That was last October. I mean I love it and all but if I knew this is where prices would be at this point in time I would have suffered a little longer with the old spinning disk.

I have a G-skill pheonix 120gb but it's kinda flakey so I got one of these. I paid the same for the 120gb about a year ago. Thanks OP!
