I just configured a 4550 like the 4500 in the first post, and it came out to be the same price.Originally posted by: geoffkin
4500's are gone off the site now?! Now there are 4550's for about ~$100 more according to my manipulations...
And I had a 4500 all set to go in my cart last night! Oh well, now I can hold off on buying now.

I was planning on building my own computer. But, at this price the Dell looks awfully tempting. An Intel 2.4 gig cpu in retail box sells for 193 bucks alone! But, if they build this with a skimpy power supply, it might be money down the drain in the long run. I just got a good deal at best buy on a PNY TI 4200 for 99 bucks after rebate! One of the requirements for this card is a 350 watt power supply. If you need a 350 watt power supply now to run a gizmo, can you imagine the power requirements for gizmos a year down the line? Dont forget your gonna have to buy a modem and extra memory. mmmmm???

On the question of do they send an XP cd with their systems, I seriously doubt they do, more likely a restore disk with all the cr@p that was originally installed on it.
the disc i got a few weeks ago with my sister's 4500 was OS only, correct. not sure that it only works on dell, but it isn't one of those crappy recovery discs that put all the sh!t back on the computer.Originally posted by: aliu79

I don't believe this is true, although my experience is only going through Dell's Educational purchases. They give you a copy of Windows XP with the Dell imprint on it. The copy will ONLY work on dell machines.
If you look on the cd itself, it says "Only use this CD to reinstall the operating system on a DellTM computer. This CD is not for reinstallation of programs or drivers."
I have confirmed this myself by using the cd and it will only install a fresh copy of windows.

Does anyone know if these systems are USB 2.0?
Wouldn't want a brand new system with 1.0, so I'm guessing they are set up. That is my only nagging question left about these..
This is what tech specs are for.
Yes, you get a total of 6 USB 2.0 ports, 2 in front (handy for digicams or if you have a printer nearby) and 4 in the back.
