If you upgrade to the Dell wireless card for $29, you can get the top-rated Dell router FREE. I think it's worth it and makes this deal even hotter!

I recently bought a similar notebook at Best Buy.

It has Centrino, Pentium-M @ 1.3, 512 mb DDR, 40 GB HD, DVD-RW/CDRW, 802.11b, bluetooth, and more. The price was:

$1299.99 - $100 BB MIR - $100 Acer MIR = $1099.99

Also, with about $60 back in BB gift certificates through the Advantage program, a few odd BB bucks from McDonalds, and 18 month free financing (which was offered last week, but is offered pretty frequently) it came out to a pretty good deal. I figure with the extra RAM, larger HD, DVD-RW/CDRW, etc, it was a better deal than the Dell, even if it is an Acer.

Best of all, I didnt have to wade through 3 screens of endless unrelated add-on options that Dell throws at you.

hahaha, thanks! I've been in a slump in figuring out what i want in a laptop as I do not have a desktop at home. (I'm using my departmental laptop loaner). I think I just want it all, portability and the ability to play some games like Day of Defeat (on Half-Life)

the dell has
-sxga+ resolution
-better video card that doesn't share system memory
-free router with $29 upgrade

dunno about you, but i find 1024x768 resolution to be horrid.

I find 1024x768 on 14.1" to be perfect however I do love my 15.0" SXGA.

I suppose it all depends on what you are using it for. My uses are productivity (Word, Excel, Acess, Photoshop, Quicken), and web browsing. I find it more than adequate for my needs, but I dont do very much gaming , and when I do game, it is on my desktop machine. The reviews I have seen show that the shared video memory does not slow it down much.

For me, the clinchers were the DVD-RW and the memory. You will not find a Centrino laptop with those specs anywhere near the price.

Ive got 45 minutes to do the deal. I was shying toward buying the Dell. Then I saw this Acer tonight. What do you think?
Almost zero gaming, lots of diital crap -pics video. DL music. I appreciate good graghics a ton. I have 100 coupon frrom DELL (2 actually) stack?
Please toss your thoughts. Don't be shy!!
I almost have to do it now or wait my turn for "big buys" in ther household. Can't wait.

good deal if you want the laptop now but i have seen better deals for the 600m and almost every other laptop. They come like once every couple of months and are great deals.

I missed the last deal for the 300m for ~$1200 and now i regret that. Waiting for it to come back or a deal for 600m for ~1000

JJd - I sent you a detailed PM on what I think.

I'd also like to add that there is always another Hot Deal down the road, trust me. I paid $600 for a Dell 1900FP LCD almost a year ago, at the time it was a SUPER HOT deal. Now you can buy a 1901FP for $467

Every few months there is a super hot deal such as this 600m for $1,099.

If you are able to WAIT, then I would WAIT.
