I ordered Friday (3/14) around 1pm.

I did use a .edu email, and my school does have a MSDNAA account.

I wasn't asked for any validation, but I did validate a few weeks ago for the Dreamspark deal.

so i think the fed needs to let college students buy a $99 checking account that lets us perpetually evaluate spending in different markets, like local/online/B2B so we can get that down too... we are only limited to 10 accounts though, so its not like they are losing out completely, hah!

It appears that the offer is now restricted to those with an MSDNAA account. The subscription link in the original post no longer works and the page for the discount now includes the following:

1) Log into your schools MSDNAA account. Look here to find your school.
2) Get your Unique TechNet offer code from your MSDNAA account
3) Head to the TechNet Market
4) Fill out the registration form and enter your Student Code to get the $99.00 price
5) Start taking advantage of the professional grade tools in TechNet
