Edit2: There should be a $50 rebate with the drive but it is not to be found. Some people have reported that the stores are giving them the drive for the $79.99 price but I had no luck. There is a $10 IR.

Price match it to CC for 110% of the difference. It seems that CU is starting to give the full $60 as an IR because of no rebate form. I just picked it up for $77.69 after tax and 110% pricematch from CC.

If CU is selling it for $79.99 right off the shelf, then it is a possibility you could still get the rebate. They just screwed up and forgot to post it, but I assume it will be up tomorrow. IF this is true then we are looking at a $29.99 price after MR. Just a thought for anyone who got it for $79.99 at CU. This would make it a killer deal.

I don't think they posted the new rebate yet. The in store special says save $60 and it gives a final price of $79.99. I think it will be a combination of both IR and MIR. I am going to pick one up tomorrow and I should have the info on the rebates as well.

It would be great if it was an *instant* rebate and Best Buy price matched it. Also, take into consideration that Best Buy has a sale coming up starting next Friday (10/11/02) and they are mailing out 10% off coupons for items such as this. The deal could be quite hot!

yeah thats what I was thinking with the 10% coupon. I think I will just avoid the beastbuy trolls for today if I can. I printed out all the information I need and I am going to go and try to hit up circuit city for the drive with a pricematch of 110%. They are usualy really nice about it. Manager at Brighton MA store refused to honor price. Tried to give me an expired $40 rebate and said tough luck. This is clearly bait and switch. there is no mention of a rebate in the ad. If you click through on-line it even says there are no rebates available. I made a stink until I was escorted out of the store by two very irate of Bostons Finest. I intend to make as big of a stink as I can about this.

Just got back from the Woburn, MA store and they didn't have the $50 rebate. Manager said he would mail me the rebate when they got it in. I got his name and he should remember me when I show up at the end of the week asking for a rebate that doesn't exist. :|

Edit: They did find the rebate on the website, but couldn't get the pdf file. Funny how a computer superstore can't even print a pdf. They also got a BSOD while surfing their own website. lol

I got one for 79.99. But it took about 1/2 hour for them to try to find the rebate and give up.

First the manager tried to pawn off an outpost/fry rebate form on me. Fortunately I noticed that it was a Outpost/Fry rebate. She mentioned that the $50 rebate had expired so at least I didn't get that. Then we go over to customer service and they try to get the rebate but the website is down They told me I should just go home and print it out and I said no way, what if it never shows up. Eventually they gave up and gave me a price adjustment to the 79.99 price. Looks like I'll be returning the 40gig Best Buy drive.

Woohoo! Just got back from circuit city. I took in a black and white printout of the compusa ad along with a printout of the stores in my area reporting it in-stock. Took a couple people looking at it and the girl eventually called and confirmed it was instock but didn't ask about rebates! I got a 110% price match for a grand total of 79.54 after tax. With no rebates to mail! I suggest doing this when they are busy and they will just want you out of the store. made my day :Q
