This is typical of the "in store specials" that they post on their webiste. Whenever it's a great deal, the store managers do everything they can to prevent you from getting the advertised price. Every time I've gone in with the print out, it's a hassle and at least an hour before I get the product at the advertised price (if at all). Maybe I'll go and try to get this one as it is a good deal and I have a little extra time on my hands.

Here's my report from the field

Ordered online from CircuitCity.com website for in store pick-up. Laid the whole pricematch deal on them - went through without a hitch. $78.43 each (I bought 2), including tax :Q.

Good luck to every else going after this deal!:

Yes, this deal just got hotter. Went to CC and they pricematched it to $73.99. Came out to $77.69 after tax which is way better then I thought it would be.

Returned the one to CU and talked to the same guy I talked this moring. Seems the manager caved in because 20 or so people came in after me and complained about the rebate. They are now selling it for $79.99 before tax at the Woburn, Ma store. The had about 30 or so left as of 3 pm today. They did have 57 this morning. I got the first one. Oh, CC had about 10 of them at the Burlington, MA store.

Got luck hunters!

Why didn't I think of this before. If I can get the drive for $79.99 at CU, then the rebate should be posted bu tomorrow. This would make it $29.99 after the MIR and $60 IR they are starting to do at some stores. This would make it killer. Anyone see a problem with the rebate? They usually don't check if it goes to Rochelle.

I just called CircuitCity.com and asked to pricematch over the phone and to do an in-store pickup. The Online store representative said they don't price match online and that you must do so in the store. So How did Nowhere get it online?

You can order it online at the regular price and instead of having it delivered, you can pick it up in store. When you go to pick it up, you can price match it with CU. I am assuming this is what he did. Just check to see if they have it in stock at CC and then just go there. That is what I did. Good Luck!

After getting the drive for 78 bucks at CC I got greedy and went over to Compusa and picked up another one for 85 bucks after tax. They got all confused and managed to piss me off something awful when they left me standing at the register for 20 minutes without saying anything. The website is all messed up and they couldn't get me a rebate so they gave me it all in instant rebate. I hope tomorrow I can get the rebate and send that in. Think it will work?
Heres the funny thing I called the 1-800 number and they said 15 were in stock so I goto the store and the shelf is bone dry. not a single 80 gig left. i ask whats going on and he says oh those drives are high risk so we keep them in the back. Who knows how many shy people came to the store and thought they were out of stock! So damn evil.....:Q

I got one last week for $89 after MIR so I went in today and got $10 back

The ad doesn't mention rebates so I took it to mean $79.95 after instant savings.
You'll notice some of the other deals mention "savings and rebate".

If a real rebate shows up for this deal, this is dynamite !

Purchased one this afternoon in Orange, CT for $79.99 + T. CUSA "Register Supervisor" checked my ad and immediately gave $60 IR.

The CC receipt is from a price match that I did this afternoon. I took a printout of the CU ad and they pricematched it for 110% of the difference.

Original CC Price : $139.99
CUSA sale price : -$79.99
difference: $60.00

10% of $60 = $6.00

Pricematch with 110% = $73.99 YMMV

CompUSA should be reported for false advertising. I went to my local CompUSA and they said it's $79.99 after rebate which is not what
their advertising says. When I click through the link right now there is no rebate and it states that there is no active rebate for this
product. They also have no rebate forms available in the in the store. So it seems their advertised price is $79.99 but they refused to
sell it at that price.

So I went to Circuit City, they called CompUSA and were told the deal is $20 instant and $40 MIR. So that is all they will do on a PM.

So CompUSA has made no retraction of this advertised sale but they are verbally changing it to whatever they wish. Very poor
business practice IMO

Optoman:

I picked the drive up in the Hauppauge,NY store but there where only two drives when I got there. I guess I got lucky because the web site was down. I think its well worth the 79.99+tax for this hot drive.

I hit compusa at 5pm and there were some left in the back room! the shelf was empty. I went to the counter, he rang it up at 154$ or whatever and I whipped out the printout. He never read it just punched some keys and said " how does $84.xx sound? IT sure is fast compared to the maxtor 740dx crapper.

Bah, I whent to CUSA's website, and got to the add, clicked on it to get details, and was then directed to the "we are currently restocking our shelves please check back in 30 minutes".. I bet they change the add to include the Rebates and what not, or take it off all together

Damn, which CompUSAs did you guys go to? I went to 2 stores here in Phoenix, and both of them insisted on the 50 MIR and wouldn't even consider any price adjustment. One of the stores even know the Rebate PDF link is down when I asked them to show me the rebate form.
