Ended up getting:

Inspiron 600m
Intel Pentium®M,1.3GHz,14.1SXGA+
ATI 64MB 9000 Video Card
384MB RAM
40GB Ultra ATA Hard Drive
Microsoft® Windows® XP Home Edition
24XCD-RW/DVD Combo
Dell TrueMobile?1300 WLAN (802.11b/g, 54Mbps) miniPCI Card
1 Year Limited Warranty

$1233 Shipped

I got the same thing last week for $1280. Is there a way to change coupons after purchase? It's already in the boxing stage by now, which I'm guessing means it's being housed in its case. But regardless, my credit card has yet to be charged. Any pointers? Thanks. This rocks.

Nah, I'm pretty sure you're stuck with it. I mean, you could call 'em and tell 'em you don't want it, but it's a question of how much you want to piss 'em off.
The thing is, the AOL discount just expired ... so you're not going to get that price if you call em tomorow.

eh, whatever. I'm sure it'll be worth the extra $50 or so to get it asap anyway. Thanks for your help.

Update: Today (4/23) they have the same model with the same specs, only you get a "free" second battery and the rebate is only $200 instead of $250. However, whenever I try to customize a laptop on Dell's site now, I get the following message:

"We need you to adjust your order.

We're sorry, but while you were shopping, we may have been updating our database and made one of the options you selected for this product no longer valid. Please select this link to re-configure the affected system.

If selecting this link only results in a return to this page, then there is a problem with the product in our database, or the link you are using to customize the system is broken and should be fixed shortly. You may be able to access the product via other links on our site. Try clicking "Buy-A-Dell" to view the main links into the Dell Store."

Anybody else having this problem? Do I need to enable my cookies or something? I never ran into this before last night.

OMG!!! That is so friggin hot. Why oh why didn't I wait for my purchase? Please let me know if you manage to get your order updated with this. I'd rather go for the extra battery than the new RAM. Thanks.

I was having that ordering problem last night and I finally called it in. It only seemed to happen when I selected the SXGA+ option, otherwise i could add it to my cart(might be different today though). The free ram upgrade is also showing up today and seems a little buggy. I think they might be giving you too much ram. Somehow it said I could downgrade to 512M and subract $250, but my price didn't seem to reflect the fact that I had 768MB of ram. That would be super hot if there's some crazy ram stuff going on. I ordered last night so I'm not going to mess with it.

The bug is related to the RealPlayer One check box. If you unchecked the box, it will error out.

the RAM selection is sooo confusing.

384DDR better than 512SDR ($25 less)?
or should i just get 384SDR and save $125??

Two more changes from yesterday's deal:

1) No 10% coupon
2) They charge for shipping now

Dell has essentially added the $100 cost of the second battery in the price of the system, and made it "free".

So why not just keep it if you like it and it does what you need?

Anyone know how to use the SmartCard reader?
Can you read the card or is there special software to read a smartcard?

Has any one had any audio problems with the 600m? I read somewhere that you can hear noise in the left speaker when playing a cd/dvd with headphones.

Is it worth getting 64mb radeon 9000 over a 32mb?

I've actually never owned a laptop. How valuable is a good warranty with dell laptops? A lot of people drove the price down on their 600m by getting just a 1 year warranty. Is this a good idea?

I own one of these, with the 32mb card. I can play war3 on the lowest settings perfectly fine without lag... remember it's a laptop. I also got the 3 year warranty with complete care... mainly for the following reasons:

- it's a laptop, it's fragile, it's mobile, and you could break it anytime
- peace of mind, you spill, you drop, you do anything, they will replace or repair it.

it's a very nice laptop, even the 1.3ghz with Centrino technology... IMO, the warranty is worth it, such an expensive item and fragile one needs a nice warranty to go with it.

The only audio problem I've had with this is the ticking noise that comes before and after a sound sample is played. Its can get really irritating after a while. But there is an updated driver for the 8500, which also works on the 600m (i wonder why they dont list it on the 600m list of drivers!) that fixes this problem.
