Explain Diff between Celeron Processors

Can someone please explain to me the difference between a Celeron M 1.3g (recently purchased laptop) and a Mobile Celeron 2.4g (laptop purchased last year)? Other things being equal, which system would be faster and have the longest baterry life? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Thew Celeron M is the newest Dothan core with 1MB cache. It is more suited to mobile use and should be excellent.

I guess the Mobile Celeron 2.4 is the crippled Northwood variety. Speed is probably a toss up, but battery life will go to the Dothan based chip.

The recent laptop I bought has the 512k cache & 1.3g processor. My old one has 256k cache & 2.4g. I haven't decided to keep the new one yet. If, overall, the new one is only slightly better than I might as well save my money. That's what I'm trying to decide. Any other comments?

i'd not keep it and get the regular Intel Centrino IMO.

That Celeron M is the Banias core then, with half the cache. Just before Dothan.

I wouldn't keep it over the 2.4Ghz one.

Full Dothan with 2MB L2 or nothing!
