Pretty much the usual nerdy teenage tale....
It was a lone night in IRC, and I joined my usual chatroom. I saw one of the guys I knew had a different nickname than usual... it was strange and foreign. Invoking the rule that anything foreign sounds 10x awesomer (until you translate it), the name was subsequently awesome. I asked where he found such a name, and he said he'd get me one too.
I don't even recall how old I was, but trying to be as suave as possible, I decided to go for a translation of "the lover." Toss that into Jim Breen's, and you get "aikouka". Although, a bit of an amusing thing I only found out maybe a year ago... while I originally thought of the name as an equivalent to Don Juan... it's a lot closer to "fanatic". Whoops!
