MSIE is crashing every 10 minutes, check my sig for my box details, I just got a MSI 4400 and I didnt have this problem before with my GeForce DDR so I reinstalled. Still same problem, games will usually run for over an hour before they crash, and 3DMark2001 will boot me to desktop maybe 1 in every 5 runs.... Everything has its own IRQ, and I dont get bluescreens, I have a 400W PSU so thats not the problem either. I can run Prime95 for 48+ hours without a problem and I know my CPU can handle 1.8Ghz at default voltage but Im doing 1.75 at 1.8Vcore just incase.... same with my Ram it can handle 166 Cas2 but Im running Cas 2.5. Im not sure why changing video cards is causing explorer to crash but it is... Anyways Im gonna post this now before it crashes again Anyone with any ideas please let me know I also reinstalled XP already. Using 30.82 Dets... same ones I used on my GeForce DDR... using latest VIA 4in1 drivers.

You might want to check your system temperatures. That 4400 is likely adding a lot more heat to your system than your old GeForce was. I had a similar problem a while ago when I first put a GF3 in my system that was already overclocked (upgraded from GF1 DDR just like you). My processor and case temps went up and it was enough to cause my system to lockup at the level I was overclocking. Running your CPU at a higher voltage may likely be adding to the effects as well.

Heat isnt a problem... Like I said my CPU isnt unstable, Prime95 runs forever, if heat was an issue it wouldnt... also heat isnt a problem with the video card cause video card instabity wouldnt cause MSIE to crash, and it does it wether I run the Video card at 320/650 or 275/550... no change so that also tells me its not heat. Plus I have a Swiftech 462 which is a damn good heatsink . I will try upgrading DX I dont think I have 8.1B.. but I dont see that crashing MSIE but Ill give it a shot. MSIE crashes more then anything which also tells me its not heat... or games would cause it to crash more... but MSIE does crash 10x as much as games... and I never get a blue screen, its always a critial error and ends the task and goes to desktop.

I agree with FluxCapacitor. He isn't necessarily saying you're video is causing the crashes, he's simply pointing out the fact that the new video card is adding alot more heat inside of your case. I upgraded a GF3 to a GF4 Ti4600 and it raised my system temp from 32c to 35c. You may want to download motherboard monitor 5 and check your heat specs. Alot of system instability and crashes and what not is caused by lotsa heat. If the temp is high, try running with you're case open. If you end up getting nomore crashes, invest in some fans.

Case is always open, always has been. Its not heat trust me, and I have MBM5 and use it Prime95 wouldnt run and MSIE crash in 5 min if it was heat, Ive seen very unstable systems... 2D stuff like MSIE usually is fine.. its the games that crash.. MSIE doesnt put really any stresss on a system. Im not trying to be a smart ass or anything, but trust me I know its not heat. I could turn the CPU up another 75Mhz before Prime95 crashes... the CPU and memory are stable... its something outside of that... but I dont know what my case cooling is beyond sufficent... Ive got 3 80mm fans blowing in and 2 coming in plus the PSU fan in my enermax which has been modded to run full speed all the time instead of changing with the temp. Ive been tweakin the crap outta my PCs for years... its nothing simple like heat, IRQ conflicts, or missing drivers... I always check all that stuff first and go back to default speeds just to make sure OCing isnt the problem... this isnt a OCing/heat problem..... Right now Im looking at software... seeing if there is any software I installed that might have done it.... Ive removed a Mindspring popup blocker... that wasnt the problem... now Im gonna try my download software.. download mage... then Ill try Rivatuner (Tho I dont see why it would crash MSIE Im desprate and gonna try everything)... If none of that works Ill try one more reinstall... after that Im gonna be at a total loss if it still does it.

this is probably not it, but did you try disabling the fast boot sequence in the bios and let the system preform a full ram test? i couldn't install win2k, and xp would install but would just lockup after being on and having so much stuff open. ran the ram test and it only got to about 180 out of 512 and barked at me, of course the store wouldn't take it back, it only being a week old. but ya never know

I would test the GF4 card in another PC,if you get the same problem,RMA it for a replacement, that way it will rule out anything wrong with the card.

I thought about it mem... the main thing I added since the crashes started was Rivatuner... and I removed it about 15 min ago... so far no crashes *prays* so well see... if I dont crash for a few hours... I think Rivatuner is the problem. I just didnt see a video card tweaking program causing MSIE to crash... but so far it seems that may have been the case.

Well I guess that was it... Dunno why Rivatuner was causing a problem, but it was, Ive been using MSIE for quite a bit and it would have crashed by now... it hasnt.
