I would have preferred radeon COLOSSUS rather than fury. Fury doesn't sound that interesting or special and it even doesn't sound ant big. FURY name IMO is a total fail.

I disagree. "Fury" is actually a good name which is "sort of" cool and it implies performance.

But I think "Fiji" and "Hawaii" entirely fail as names for GPUs, let alone "Colossus".

That's what I think. I don't know about prices.

The 'Fury' brand is kind of growing on me. Still would have preferred RADEON, but this is a good title IMHO.

Oh! Maybe it will be RX Fury (setting it above the R9 designation), and then it's the prescription for your ailing rig.

The thing is, Fury is being bandied about constantly so at this point if AMD doesn't use it then it will seem downright odd.

AFAIK, Fiji was never going to be 390 series.

How so? Aren't 380/X rebranded 290/X's? And Fiji is the only new arch GPU coming out unless I'm mistaken. So therefore, Fiji must be 390/X (fury).

Please correct me if I'm wrong.

No. 380 will be Tonga (currently 285), 390 will be Hawaii (currently 290). Fiji will be branded outside the normal lineup under the name Fury.

So, the current 290 is going to be the new 390. Really?

Yes. Anandtech forum poster Tuna-Fish is actually AMD CEO Lisa Su, so you can go ahead and believe anything they post. Scouts honor

You're not helping chimaxi. Normal correction/answer?

Those are the normal rumors flying around right now. You're in a thread labeled Fiji = Radeon Fury.... It's safe to assume then that Fiji, which we already know is the high end chip, is currently the front runner to be Radeon Fury.

Unless you either
A) Believe there is another chip completely under wraps that NO ONE has heard about that will be Fury.
or
B) Radeon Fury is the 390x and is an alternative name.

It makes far more sense that Fury is the name of the Fiji card, and that it's the new card to face off against the Titan X.

Current thinking is this:
Fiji (Radeon Fury X)
Fiji Pro (Radeon Fury)
Hawaii R9 390 series
Tonga R9 380 series
I don't think anyone cares after this.

This is with everything produced at GF which has an advantage over TSMC so the R9 390/380 are expected to clock higher and/or have lower TDPs.

I'm seriously surprised you aren't up to date on this as there literally is NOTHING going on after the 980 Ti release lol.

I haven't been following AMD very closely lately. And the smattering of rumors is just too much to sort through.

Ok you're right. The real answer is that nobody here actually knows anything. It's all speculation, some backed up with logic and/or educated guesswork, but nobody knows. Let's hope for some solid news soon.

Is it me or is the speculation more interesting than the alleged products behind it?

Definitely. There are so many possibilities and experimental chips/design ideas which don't even make it to retail that we don't know about and are infinitely more interesting than the products we eventually get. We just don't get those products because they're difficult or costly to manufacture on a large scale or even just unnecessary from the corporation's point of view.

There are so many things that just don't come to light at all or are limited and more interesting to speculate about beforehand. Like back when people thought Pirate Islands was a whole lineup. Now it just seems more likely to be a single GPU and a bunch of rebrands. Speculation allows many outcomes with ideal hopes placed behind products, but actual release is only one outcome limited by unfortunate realities.
