Haha, check out one of the reviews:

"At the munitions plant where I work, we have a HeartStart Home Defibrillator in our First Aid Station in case of emergencies. During a routine field test for a new type of explosive, an accidental blast lifted my daredevel boss off the ground and onto the hood of a company truck with a sickening thud. We reluctantly approached the vehicle to see if he was still alive, but his chest wasn't moving. Our regular EMT was out sick and a trainee tried CPR on my boss without any response. After lifting his eyelids and looking at his pupils, he shook his head and decided to try the defibrillator. The HeartStart's vocal instructions told him the correct way to connect the electrodes and how much voltage to apply. My boss needed four large shocks before he started breathing again. I was so relieved, I almost started to applaud, but then I remembered that I really don't like him very much as a person."

lol

These can be very effective at saving lives. We carry a similar unit on our rescue/pumper (more industrial).

is this a cruel joke? come on guys... not to be bashful, but there's a borderline when something is funny and something isn't.... some ppl take these medical items serious, and unless this was a hot deal, there shouldn't be a reason to laugh about these things...

Medics are notoriously cynical and lol about other peoples bad day! If someone wants to install an AED in their own home go for it. I think this is neither cruel or unusual. Someone may appreciate this deal and have their own life saved for it. Us medics can find plenty of things to LOL about and this is not one of them.

Too expensive. I'll just stick with the "bare wires plugged into the wall outlet" chuckle-maker.

Nice deal.. we're gonna be seeing a LOT more of these things around. Hopefully, the price can come down across the board.

I mean.. if your company buys 10 and only 1 is ever used, then they have easily paid off..

I remember something like the Red Cross statistics say something like 90% of heart attacks can be stopped with a defibrillator within 2 minutes of the attack without brain damage. I'm not sure if I remember that right, but basically, defibs have a much greater chance of saving someone's life than properly-administered CPR.

IMO, all restaurants should have one as people are more likely to have heart attacks after eating..

These units are from a Philips division which once was part of Agilent. I work for the Ultrasound division which shares a manufacturing building where other cardiac products are also manufactured.

This unit is for real and will lead you through the steps you need to do to save someone's life. We have them dispersed throughout our building complex. Not everyone needs these but for those that do and those businesses that can benefit, I think it can be a good investment.

And no, my division's workers do not get a bonus if more Hearstarts get sold (though the cardiac products group will). But..... I could perhaps get you a deal on a High End Live 3D Ultrasound System.........

I sure hope you aren't recommending(and totally just joking) this to someone who is looking for one. After they apply your hollywood technique, and the amperage kills whoever they trying to save. They can still be proud of saving a few bucks rather then a life...
