Did Trump really say his immigration plan is extreme, extreme, really extreme vetting to make sure immigrants support our constitution and deny Shira Law without any details at all?

I think we should make fun of the idiots that support him instead.

Making fun of the latest outrageous things he says is pointless, it's not like the guy has any shame.

So, just curious, do you guys not like vetting, or do you not like it because Trump is saying it? Would you like it better if Clinton was saying it?

Frankly, I don't care who says it, I don't want immigrants coming from terrorism hot spots without comprehensive, thorough vetting. Until we can do that, I agree that there needs to be a temporary pause. Look, I don't like Trump or Hillary, but this is an important issue.

I think it is more down to those bestest of best words that make him look like an idiot still these days.

He comes off like a complete fool so often I'm still amazed he has gotten this far.

He sounds like a complete illiterate.

From everything I've read, he functions that way also and has just grow up with daddies money/lawyers/CPA's and is a real estate con man.

I haven't done this in awhile but here we go.

Seems almost a bit prophetic

I don't like it because he's proposing to implement "crimethink." Unsatisfied with his earlier attacks on religious freedom, the Clown is now going after freedom of opinion. But unless he's got mindreaders now, there's no way to accurately do what he's proposing, meaning the application of this would be subjective and therefore corrupt.
Much of what Trump proposes sounds like a great idea at face value, with an effect of "gee whiz why didn't anyone think of this before?" The problem is that his ideas are vague, people have thought of them before, and they don't work.

We already do that. What more comprehensive and thorough vetting do you want? Serious question.

I don't think Trump even knows what he means and I don't think he's put any thought into the costs. It's just mindless ranting.

I can understand your point of view. But so many people from these troubled regions are innocent and need help.

In the 1980s and 1990s, tens of thousands of Sri Lankans of the Tamil ethnic group came to Canada by way of refugee claims. Many of them came to stay in the same city suburb that I grew up in and attended the high school I attended. Many did extremely well, given the opportunity to excel in a new country. Some of those are my long-time friends. And some could not leave the violence they had been surrounded with in Sri Lanka behind and became criminals and generally dangerous people to be in the vicinity of, which perpetuated a stereotype of a propensity to violence.

What Mr. Trump offers by way of solution is not real. Vetting of those often completely without documents or a functional government back overseas is practically impossible. So it'd be a blanket ban, and the tradition of your country and mine in giving hope to those who need it most will end. It's a sad thought.

Which "hot spots"?

Nigeria? France? India? Pakistan? Germany? Philippines?

Most of Trump's plans only make sense so long as you don't think about them. So what exactly are you talking about?

There's probably like 100,000 students from terrorist hot spots in the US right now
You figure they've been extreme, extreme, really extremely vetted?
Should we maybe expel them back home , til we get this figured out?

I'm great with vetting but simply asking someone who wants to immigrate if the support the Constitution and deny Shiria Law is not exactly "Extreme, extreme, really extreme" vetting its asking a couple of simple questions that everyone already knows the answer to.
I hate it when people turn questions around so I am going to apologize upfront. Would you be alright if Obama let a bunch of dudes from Kuwait in if they answered yes to supporting the Constitution and no to supporting Shiria Law?
Asking silly questions that everyone knows what the expected answer is does not make it a good plan.

The constitution guarantees the right to follow Sharia Law
If you didn't allow Sharia Law that would be against the constitution
Sharia Law is only practiced in family law in Kuwait, just like in the US

Maybe Trump can hire the Bridgekeeper from Monty Python and the Holy Grail. "What is your quest?" "To become a citizen of the United States." "What is your favorite color?" "Red." Which do you support? Constitutional Law, or Sharia Law?" "Sharia Law. No wait. Consti aahhhhhhhhhhhhhHHH!"

What was also deeply disturbing in Trump's plan was the idea that he would set up commissions to "educate the public" on extremism, then be charged with "rooting it out.. viciously" if needed.
Wtf..

Otherwords, a propaganda campaign to polarize the public, followed up by "vicious" actions by the govt against its citizens found to be suspicious. Trials, imprisonment, executions??

Where is he going with this? McCarthy on 'roids?

From Time MagazineWhat percentage of applicants “pass” the screening process?

Just over 50%.

How long does the whole process take?

Eighteen to 24 months on average.
That seems pretty "extreme."

But what does the extreme vetting mean paired with the immigration ban on terrorist hotspots? Is the extreme vetting for France and the ban for Syria? Still need more details.

I guess I have to watch this crap at 2x speed. Full speech here:

I'm using the Internet! Yeah!
