What are your system specs, need to know that to see what kind of wattage and compatiblites you require.

Pretty neat tool since I can never find my Maximum PC magazine that has this chart in it!

Nice link, I only had an older one which added a lot of guesswork to the calc. This one is spot on with the components selection.

Thanks,

That site has options for dual capable processors, but doesn't have a "Number of CPUs" option? Lazy bastards.

According to that calculator, I'm using 515W, 5 more than my PSU is rated at.

they're trying to get you to upgrade, lol.

i noticed that about the dualies too but, hey, they did better than i. it's pretty cool for down and dirty and quick and is an actual working link as opposed to almost every other i find linked here.

Hell, I just paid $230 for this PSU in May. I've been thinking about throwing in a second PSU if I ever upgrade any further.

Edit: Oooh, I need to add in 30 watts for my new Radeon 7000 that's coming in this weekend. That'll bring me up to 545W! :Q

And with my planned next upgrade... 815W.

i take what these websites say with a grain of salt. they always over-inflate the wattage they say you need.

i don't think it's something you use to run out and just buy a psu with, but it is a helpful starting point.

edit- and of course they say at the top the figure is for like 100% utilization, so every item you use would have to be running at the same time, lol.

:Q 461?

I'm running it all on a 350watt enermax and a 230 watt AT at the bottom of my case.

Hmmm, my future computer (AMD 64 3000+, 6600GT, etc) they say should only take 229 Watts. The other test said a bit higher though, at 243 Watts.

sticky vote. (or combine with a popular psu 'howto' thread)

been using this a lot recently to map expansion for my current/dream systems.
