This is taken from gotapex. I ordered one on Friday, and it shipped the same day, 3-day FedEx. I should have it this Thursday.

Details:

Sharp LC-37HV6U 37-inch LCD TV, now $3115.28 after $200 mail-in rebate and 1% OnePass discount. Plus - shipping is included.

Sign up for a free OnePass account (or log in to yours if you already have one) for the 1% discount. ONEPASS

TV is at Sharp LCD

This TV is the latest model, with the speakers on the bottom, and a higher contrast ratio than the old one. It is selling for $5k locally. So getting one for about $3100 shipped is an amazing deal !

Just figured I'd pass it along - this is a *very* good deal on a high-end LCD...

I believe that this is actually the second latest model. The newer ones ("G", not H" in the model #) have more digital connectivity.

I bought the older 30 inch H model two weeks ago from One Call because we only use it for dvds and regular cable--HDTV digital connections were not important to us. Upconversion for SDTV is much better than the cheap Sceptre 30" sold by Costco, but then it did cost about $600 more.

OK hands up, who thinks $3000+ for a 37" TV is a good deal?

I do. Go compare the Sharp Aquos to any other TV. This is easiest in Best Buy, or whatever electronics superstore you like. Out of about 30 LCD/Plasma's, the Sharp Aquos is without question (in my opinion) the nicest looking TV (in picture quality).

Ok. I saw this TV in Circuit City today for $5000, plus tax. The Onecall deal is $3300-ish, shipped. That's 33% off.

For people in the market, this is a heck of a deal.

Just because it's not a deal for YOU, doesn't mean it's not a deal...

OK hands up, who thinks that trolling other people's threads isn't cool?

Just because you can't afford it doesn't make it any less hot.

This is a good deal, considering what it costs elsewhere. I believe what some people are trying to say, atleast I am is that LCD is still too overpriced. 3k+ for a 37inch tv no matter plasma or lcd is too much, the industry has been milking these long enough. Its time we see 30-40inch HD 720p LCD or plasmas in the 1-2k range they should be spitting these bad boys out left and right now, productions costs should be alot better.

Keep in mind, you can puchase a DLP projector 720 native with 3000:1 contrast, that will produce up to a 120inch IMAGE that would blow the socks of this thing for even 2-$300 cheaper!

Sharp make very good LCD TV, I think they are the best LCD TV maker. It is hot for those who is in the market for one. The 42" Sony XBR Plasms is also good but cost around $4500 or $5000, and the are this sony is the best plasma I seen.

for 3000 i think there some HDTV 42" plasmas. but ive seen 61" DLP by samsung for maybe $3500ish online. thats 24" more!!! 50" for $3000. The picture quality is as good as any other HD plasma and is far cheaper than any plasma in its size.

but y lcd or plasma or dlp? it seems very expensive to me considering its size.

Because picture quality is subjective and many people disagree with you. I don't want to offend any rear projection owners but I personally dislike the picture they produce intensely. That's why there are options.

Have you ever seen a DLP? Its the best quality you will ever seen. Its not a regular projection. Go to your best buy and they have a couple of DLPs there.

Projectors still aren't as bright as a regular LCD, plasma, or CRT TV. I agree they are great for watching movies, but what if you want to watch regular TV on a sunny afternoon ? Then a projector is almost worthless...

I think everything has its place. I chose the large LCD because it doesn't have the burn-in problems associated with Plasma and it is brighter than a projector.

Best Buy or CC wouldn't be the best places to go to check out picture quality unless u go ahead and calibrate all the settings.. usually they are calibrated to the extreme ends. Also, try mounting the same size DLP on a wall. It'll be pretty hard This is a good deal for the prices going right now!

I havn't heard of that one... Biggest ones I have seen recently announced/almost shipping is the 45" 1080p Sharp LCD, and the 46" 1080p Samsung LCD.

I am leaning toward the 45" Sharp myself, too bad it was delayed another 2-4 weeks, so its looking like it will be shipping late this month or early to mid October.

I agree with you on the Sharp LCD's and many others will as well, but for plasmas, you are way off.

The Sony is an "ok" unit, but plagued with problems (i.e. 10-20% death rate just after 1 year, which is just outside the warrenty time... some people are considering a class action lawsuit due to the number of units failing just outside of the warrenty end date). The best units out there appear to currently be the Fugitsu P50 and related generation screens. Very few issues with them, and they have extremely good picture quality (arguablly better then everyone else).

One MAJOR problem with just looking at the screens on display at BB or similar store is the fact that the screens are completely running out of spec/very bad calibration. Typically the contrast and brightness are maxxed out which will cause screen burn-in very quickly (i.e. within a week). The colors are almost always off spec as well. The only real way to know which screens are truely the best is to have someone or someplace that will let you take in a calibration disk like Avia, or Video Essentials, or similar and run thru the entire calibration to correctly set the brightness, color, contrast, sharpness, etc., and then compair the screens. Without proper calibration and running the screens brighter then spec, the livespan of the unit is dramatically reduced. This is why it is also good to visit other websites like avsforums who have people who have used most of the sets out there and can give first hand knowledge as to which have superior quality picture....

It's this kind of definitive catch-all statement that make discussions like this pointless. Have I ever seen a DLP TV? Without being overly sarcastic, yes I have, I've seen ~200 DLP sets over the last 5 years in my home and at work in different lighting, before and after ISF calibrations, from about 100 different sources. So yes, I have seen them and I still think that even the DLP2+ chips still have a ways to go before they can produce a picture I find acceptable. Just because you or your dad or your friend owns a DLP doesn't make it the best. If it was "the best quality (we'll) ever see", then why do they keep producing CRTs, LCDs, plasmas, and FPs?

This is definitely an "extremely hot deal."

Now, it's way out of my price league, but hey, anytime a product is available at significantly cheaper than everywhere else, it's hot.

Was that english? crap.

This is hot. Compared to Plasma, it still offers about the same picture quality for a cheaper price. ^^
