Yep, and Charlie stated that GK104 would have wildly varying performance depending on application so maybe Nvidia is trying to create an extremely controlled testing environment? I'm just speculating here, but based on NV's shenanigans in the past I wouldn't put it past them.

How the heck can Nvidia create a controlled testing environment when everyone got to leave with the card in hand? Mind control? Hypnosis? "WHEN YOU GET HOME, DO NOT BENCHMARK KEPLER ON ANY GAME THAT DOES NOT USE PHYSX. PAY NO ATTENTION TO THE MAN BEHIND THE CURTAIN."

Review guides, intimidation, blacklisting. Hell, a lot of sites willingly go along with Nvidias nonsense, and Nvidia PR is very effective.

Nvidia has blacklisted websites in the past for not following their review guides. I'll try to dig up that info but it definitely happened during the GTX 480 days. I do remember hardware secrets was blacklisted for benchmarking something not on their approved list.

Now isn't this a wonderful company? I'm sure people will defend nvidia to the death but their marketing is shady, period. NV has certainly tried to "guide" reviewers to certain preferred games, this is why I usually like their products but hate the people behind the company. You can bet money that Hawx II will appear on every Kepler review on the web. Calling it now.

But how many people honestly think that Kepler == 3 GTX 580s? Nvidia hype marketing machine at work, gotta love it.
The same people that believe Kepler was shown running on a 200 watt power supply. D:

I love Nvidia from an engineering perspective, but the marketing people, ugh.

They could always do a partial reveal where sites are allowed to talk about the architecture, and show performance in a select few situations that NV want because it shows the cards in a good light.
Basically a tech preview with favourable benchmarks (favourable to show the new architectural features). That's how you can do a controlled environment at least for initial reveals, even if you can't make sites do it for the final reviews.

Like this, but with limited benchmarking allowed.

And then full reviews to follow later with reviewers allowed to do whatever they want.

Or it could just be a reveal of the new logo and nothing special happening tomorrow.

Some sites will, but not all.

There are some sites that have to bend over and cater to keep getting the hardware while there are others that do not. There are sites that have such a presence/mass that nvidia/amd/intel etc. cannot afford to not give them hardware and lose the PR (anand, [h], tpu, hwc and some others) These sites can be as impartial as they like without worry of getting cut off.

There are other sites though that have to pander, not that they are all biased. Some certainly are no more than echo chambers though...... You can usually spot them by their using the press kit slides and verbatim language or catch phrases being using for the launch.

Going to be a fun launch Going on the die sizes, I am looking forward to seeing just how close the 7970 and 680 are and if/where they trade blows or trump the other. At least we have moved past the $300 flagship delusions. I'm looking forward to seeing the real pricing for a 680, $499 is my guess and AMD will have to drop $50 or so.

Hardwarecanucks guy: "I didn't see OBR there, he wasn't there"
Rollo replies: "yes I was"
Rollo later replies (random damage control nonsense)

rollo probably isn't OBR but they both certainly are the same mold and post the same stupid nonsense.

Sorry blackened, I forgot you are always right, nigh infallable.
or more accurately, a tanker load of information or facts wont make you see the light, but a mere wisp o wind will get your rumor mill a cranking.

I just flat out told you Rollo is no OBR. Are you calling me a liar? I've known him damn near a decade on a personal level. You have been given facts. Please don't propagate any more rumors based on your own paranoia. We all have quite enough rumors already.

Just so we're all clear, this is the same Rollo who lied, deceived and viral marketed here on ATOT. As well, the same Rollo who not more than a few months back made a bunch of alt accounts against this forums rules and trolled here for a few weeks. Probably still has a handful of alt accounts he spreads nvidia PR garbage with as well going on that performance.

And you believe anything a proven liar and wingnut like that tells you ? Perhaps he's not calling you a liar, you may just have some really poor judgment. Given facts ? Meaning suddenly what comes out of rollo's mouth are facts ?

Yep. I'm waiting for a select few sites to get their word in. I called $499 a bit ago as well, although we might see gouging so who knows.

What's to say you're not covering for him now, just the same? Your hostility about it certainly is interesting.

NV have no lack of names or alterations for hierarchy. Remember the 275, 285, 7800, 7900 [GS/GT/GTX/GTO/GX2], 7950?

The fact that this may be labeled a 680 doesn't have any bearing on product range, add in the fact that NV is kind of late to the game and may be even later with Keplers flagship, it makes sense that they would push the naming scheme to represent Fermi's highend (a fresh memory embedded into our brains) to push sales.

Marketing is looming.

I have a feeling it will be just like Fermi overview. No benchmarks tomorrow. I think Nvidia will want another week to squeeze out a little bit more performance via drivers on a few popular games.
