Eyefinity 3 monitors all diff resolutions

So yes go ahead and mismatch monitors, and resolutions if you want to. It sounds like eyefinity can do it. (I dont personally own 3monitors, so just going by this artical from a google search)

You dont have to use your monitors in landscape mode either,
IF you want to use 1 x 30" in the middle in landscape, and use 2 x 19" in protrait mode, on each side of the 30", you can do that.

Most common is 3 x landscape though, with each monitor being the same size, running same resolution, so it ends up looking better. It doesnt have to be that way though.

Like I said though, I dont use it, so maybe you should check out a forum for it? amd has a forum for eyefinity ect. OR wait until a guy on this forum peeks in.

***going from pictures/youtube videos, Portrait 3x mode, looks best, esp if you get really thin bezels.

Thanks for the info. If I bought all my monitors at the same time I would get clones but i pick them up here in there and just got a third. I was looking at a 6950 or 6850. The 6850 I was looking at had displayport but not mini and the adaptors on monoprice make it seem like for the regular size displayport the monitor has to be able to accept that connection instead of a signal through a displayport/DVI adapter.

Yeah at the very least, if you useing those resoultions, you should get a 6950 (then unlock it to a 6970 and overclock it).

Complain all you want about bezels in multi-monitor setups, but the different horizontal depths on the two outer monitors vs. the center one are far more distracting.

That's not to say I don't like such a setup-- but if you're going to do it, keep your vertical resolutions the same. In other words: 1x2560x1600 in landscape and 2x1600x1200 in portrait.

Plus, I can't shake the feeling that setup looks like "fangs".

I beleive to do actual gaming in EYEFINITY you have to have the same res on all screens, but you can use them as 3xsingle displays just fine

When used as a single desktop, all monitors will be forced to the same resolution of the lowest one, so you will have one or more running at a non-native resolution if you have mixed monitors. They also must be in the same orientation.

You are correct that when used as separate desktops, they can be in whatever orientation and resolution you want.
