Eyefinity questions

I am still fairly new to running an eyefinity setup and had a few questions. In general I am happy with it, there does seem to be a few issues though. Basically I really prefer extended desktop for actual use other than gaming, under eyefinity icons don't line up nicely with screen edges (autogrid enabled), even if you move the task bar to the center screen the start menu and all your notification icons and expand on the left screen, and minimizing and maximizing always goes across all monitors making sizing windows just a little more hassle that I would prefer. Is there some sort of configuration utility that just enables eyefinity when you launch particular games and gives you extended desktop otherwise? Or is there an easy fix for making eyefinity function more like extended desktop? Does AMD actually work towards solutions on their end or is this something I will always rely on third parties for?

I'm not sure what you mean. Eyefinity behaves like one big screen spread across multiple physical displays. Can you use a hotkey combo (assign that in the AMD control panel) to switch between eyefinity and extended desktop?

To address the window thing while still using Eyefinity, you could try AMD Hydra or other software that assigns little discrete sections of your big screen for different windows. But, with Windows 10, now you can snap windows to quadrants of your screen, maybe that is enough to get by with when using eyefinity? However I much prefer to just switch between eyefinity/extended using hotkeys, so I use eyefinity for gaming, and switch back to extended when using my computer for non-gaming stuff.

Also consider just switching to your main monitor and disabling your other monitors when you are in desktop mode, because that saves energy. You don't need an eyefinity hotkey combo to do this - it's really easy:

Windows key + P and just toggle to disable the other monitors.

It's practically instantaneous with no delay, and will let your GPU run cooler because it's only driving one display and can use lower core/memory clocks. I leave my computer in this mode most of the time, then extend to the other monitors as needed (photo work, streaming video on spare screens, etc.).
