Honestly though, once it's been removed, it will be VERY difficult to reinstall it.

God they are really really evil. There is no other word that works. Allowing ISPs to fuck with content is so dangerous that it infringes on free speech in my opinion. With these evil fucks loading up the Supreme Court to confirm these anti-free speech FCC rules, we are quickly becoming an extremely unfree country.

“Under my proposal, the federal government will stop micromanaging the internet,” Mr. Pai said in a statement. “Instead, the F.C.C. would simply require internet service providers to be transparent about their practices so that consumers can buy the service plan that’s best for them and entrepreneurs and other small businesses can have the technical information they need to innovate.”

Yeah too fucking bad I only have ONE goddamn choice for internet access in my neighborhood. ONE, because its a legal monopoly.

Yeah but now " entrepreneurs and other small businesses can have the technical information they need to innovate."! It will be super easy for startups to take on multi-billion dollar international megacorps with deeply rooted ties into the local, state and federal governments!

Maybe. We'll see. They're gonna have to explain shit in court which means they're gonna be looking into the backroom "discussion" that Pai claims led them to these actions, and this is almost definitely going to go to the Supreme Court, as there's quite a bit of evidence that they're deliberately ignoring the will (and feedback) of the people in order to justify this. And there's already some possibility that they attempted to destroy evidence of peoples' feedback and the astro-turfing campaign of the telcos (whereby they submitted feedback that was just copy-pasted BS claiming net neutrality hurt them, oh and they also used dead people's names and people who later came out and said they absolutely did not post that comment as well as they feel the total opposite; its literally "voter" fraud straight out of the movie Black Sheep).

Pai is going to deregulate and then Congress and Trump are going to start talking about enshrining it in law to try and make it permanent to try and prevent Democrats from dong anything. That or they'll try to completely dissolve the FCC.

But, but, you do have competition! You can probably get 1Mb DSL over copper that you'll be lucky if it actually provides half that and probably will start degrading quickly after they're allowed to let copper to rot and not do anything to fix it. Then you can get cellular where you'll super duper not have bandwidth caps and other provisions where you'll end up paying out the ass and have random service issues where they "throttle you because you're clearly a problem user, plus, you can zero rate where we'll advertise about you streaming 4K but if you don't stream in 480p then you'll be throttled for excessive data usage), and you can get satellite internet that will combine the 20 year old speeds of DSL with all the problems of cellular with even worse bandwidth constraints, and if you're lucky you might have a major telecom where you can get cable or fiber so you can get 100Mb service for whatever price they feel is right, and also enjoy your new bandwidth caps (that we'll openly say there's no reason for them, as even the excessive users still cost us less than we charge even the people using the least amount of bandwidth, but hey if we let everyone actually have unlimited like we advertise then it'll cost us more money; which we need to raise rates in case you might be tempted to increase your bandwidth usage it'll be on your bill as the FU Fee - it stands for federally mandated user fee which isn't actually federally mandated its just a term we came up with).

Expect a lot of Google's initiatives to start facing regulation after Pai "looks into them having unfair advantage that hurts the American consumer"

Oh, they also announced their intention to preempt state and local laws soooooooo... yeah.

Yep. Gotta love the hypocrisy.

That's why we need something big to send a message that if they do this, its yet another way they're openly declaring war on the American people. No I'm not talking about violence, but we need to start demanding town halls and if they dodge them, say, have fun staying at home in the future because your political career is fucking done you piece of shit.

maybe his morbidity is viewable, nerve racking.

Its because his rampant hypocrisy is slapping him in the face and this is the only way he knows of to deal with it. He's not trying to convince others, he's trying to convince himself.

Hopefully lawsuits can gum this up for a while until congress changes hands.

Even better would be if the courts see this for what it is: a blatant move against the people, who straight up told them exactly that and they're trying to ignore it, and thus strike it down, while giving harsh rebuff to their means. And then let people sue telecoms for anti-competitive practices that cite this situation, whereby the courts rule that the government has to come up with new regulations to fit the changes to the modern communications and media.

Hell, maybe we'll get court rulings declaring communications a basic need (since after all it is necessary for contacting emergency services, not to mention its practically a pre requisite for applying for jobs), and they'll say that there needs to also be a government provided basic access, which in this day and age would be fiber nodes and then probably copper from there, and possibly wireless as well. The telcos would be free to provide service as well, hell they can even pay to use the government made infrastructure so they don't have to worry about that pesky maintenance and the like.

and that one ISP is about to tier that shit up, hope you dont like streaming.

I don't know, I could see Netflix and Amazon coming up with wireless server boxes that they work deals with neighborhoods (or individuals) where they install it and pay for electricity and people pay a flat fee to access it and stream. Those two companies alone could exert so much influence on the telcos by being able to take away people needing them to access their stuff, and if Google, Microsoft and/or Apple get onboard as well, that it would let consumers send a big FU to them. Have fun trying to regulate that as you get the legal teams of all those companies involved. And they'll likely at the same time be working to come up with other new means of bypassing ISPs.

Could you imagine if they went in together and bought up Sprint or T-Mobile (or both)?

Yeah, so much for the GOP mantra of smaller federal government and more states rights.

And that might be their undoing. Much like how Turmp's own words keep being used to show how he's doing shit for the reasons he said and not their attempt at bullshit legalese, this is only going to work against them.

Seriously, they seem to completely be unable to see how everything they do perfectly shows them to be full of shit and end up helping fuel the backlash against their attempts. If I didn't know Pai was such a piece of shit, I'd almost say he intentionally added that they're going to pre-empt lower laws as well, as that just seems like a gift for people to take to court showing the federal government trying to exempt peoples' rights. But no, they just think they can get away with it. I think the Republicans believe they'll be able to get this through without fuss as people will be focused on their tax cuts. But in reality this is going to lead to more situations like the health care stuff, where the Republicans are going to try to ditch having to face their constituents, and that's going to bite them hard as they do everything they can to weasel out of taking responsibility.

Hell, maybe we'll see people using their holiday time off to go and protest. And the Republicans can have fun trying to paint crowds of people probably sharing hot chocolate and singing X-mas songs as some radical antifa. Maybe they march from homeless shelters where they donate and then go and to government buildings and protest. Peacefully. And corporations could get lots of goodwill by showing up with trucks full of toys to donate to kids, food and blankets for homeless.

Really the only thing we can do is what I've been preaching for a while. Vote with our wallets. End your internet connection. I know as someone that has had it for the better part of 20 years of my life it's not something that is easy to do. It affects our social life. Our employment. Our overall lives. But you know what, we survived for centuries without. Make the megacorps sweat it out. Cancel. That's the real protest. If you need it for work then organize a coalition at your employer with other employees to express that you aren't able to work after hours online because of government regulations interfering with your life. Make them fight for you too.

If you live in a red state you are fucked. Entirely fucked. You have no representation. The GOP has set sail on giving one iota of care on their constituents. It's entirely about their corporate megadonors.

It's on us to make sacrifices and actually put some hurt to these fuckers bottom lines.

Previous generations put their lives on the line fighting for what they believed in. Giving up snapchat and netflix is a pretty small sacrifice in comparison.
