ive been playing fear this whole weekend and its great !!!!! Multiplayer is awesome y ou can slow down time and use martial arts !

Some various places. I believe BB may have had some out early, and there was somewhere is Aus that had them on the shelves early.
Then there are the "usual" prerelease channels when you can acquire games.

i got mines on friday at Best Buy there not supose to sell them till monday but my friend works there

Your friend could get that store fined $500,000 and never allowed to sell Sierra and Vivendi titles ever again. That's why my store won't sell any until tomorrow.

my friend dont care he is making minimun wage and does nothing but try to explain dvds to old ppl he hates his job he wouldnt mind getting fired at least he can collect unemplyment

I played FEAR for a few hours last night; it's a good game

A few retailers have put it on the shelves early accidentally most likely, & i'm guessing those who work in retail already have it too

I have become so dependent on slow-mo mode it's ridiculous

Nobody played Q4 yet...? I'm still not sure which one I want to get. I'm not getting both this week... I imagine that by the time I get done with whichever one I get the other one will come down in price. It looks like the disappointment with Doom3 has really out a damper on the Quake4 launch. No one seems to be too excited to see what id/Raven have been up to.

Honestly, I'm leaning a bit towards Quake4 myself... Not because I think it will be a better game, but because I think it will run better on my system. By waiting a bit it will give Monolith time to come out with the inevitable patch for FEAR and/or an improved driver from NV. The FEAR MP demo runs fine on my system, but I can't get the SP demo to swtich to any resolution other than the default 800x600. I have edited the config file and the settings even say 1680x1050, but when I enter the game it's at 800x600. Needless to say, it looks like crap. This hasn't exaclty instilled a whole lot of faith in Monolith.

im dieing for quake 4 i wanna see the multiplayer !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! soo far it will be hard to beat the fear multiplayer is awesome you can dive and slow time if you are in control of it and do martial art moves its awesome !

Me too, I was a huge fan of Quake 3. From the video footage I've seen of Q4, the MP looks like it's going to be a lot like Q3, but with the appearance of Doom3. On the flipside, I've read that MP is limited to 16 players and there are no vehicles as of right now in MP.

Thats a stretch, very few games have a hard release date, EQ2, WC3 and Final Fantasy X come to mind. Most games when they go gold the manufacturers set a date of when they think they will be shipped to stores. Most companies (best buy being a perfect example) set that date in their ads. What they want to watch out for is selling out of the game prior to the date the add has stated. If people came in that day to buy a game at 9AM and found out they went through the stock on monday they might have several law suits.

Hard Release Dates are for Game systems, Music, and Movie for the most part.

Have you considered the mechanics? Slow motion wouldn't work in FEAR multiplayer - one person cannot be slowed while the other plays in real time.

Go to the quake4 homepage, there is a section that has video footage of the various game features... MP is one of those.

Haven't tried it myself, but I believe P.H.3.4.R. Multiplayer allows players to slow time like they do in singleplayer. All other players then move slowly (Just what I heard. Haven't actually played it).

That is true, the multiplayer had this, everyone would slow down. it was kinda cool, I liked it
