Have you considered the mechanics? Slow motion wouldn't work in FEAR multiplayer - one person cannot be slowed while the other plays in real time.

Haven't tried it myself, but I believe P.H.3.4.R. Multiplayer allows players to slow time like they do in singleplayer. All other players then move slowly (Just what I heard. Haven't actually played it).

That is true, the multiplayer had this, everyone would slow down. it was kinda cool, I liked it

So, what is the advantage? The point of being able to do the slo-mo is that you stay normal speed, while everyone else it slower - making it easier for you to target them and more difficult for them to dodge your bullets... If everyone moves at the same speed... well, you get the idea.

I was reading a bit about Quake 4, and being that it is a PC/ XBOX 360 game the multiplayer is pretty limited (few maps, even fewer good maps, no vehicals, 16 player!?!)... dumb consoles.

But I've only read praise about F.E.A.R, I'm still getting both though

So, the whole opposing team moves at a reduced rate while your team moves at full speed? I assume the ability is sort of like quad-damage in Quake3 then where you have to obtain an item to enable that? If so, that is definitely an interesting twist to multi-player.

Yea, I read that there is an item somewhere in the level that gives you the bullet-time ability (your in-game map points to it) and both teams rush to get it.

From what ive read and seen of Q4 is that its actually not as good as F.E.A.R.

Game Rankings have Q4 as 81% while F.E.A.R. has 91% overall.

IGN have a review of the game up already, they say the graphics and sound is very very good but the game mechanics have actually taken a step back. The MP side of things they say is pretty average.

But we will see as more and more reviews come out and see if the overall rating goes up.

Anyway ive at least played F.E.A.R, nearly finished it, one of the shops i know have started selling the game. Its truly cool and really amazing. Its a bit of the short side, but the quality is amazing. Havent tried MP but i think i will when everyone else gets their game! so i can at least play against them. But reading the reviews of FEAR against Q4 id get FEAR first.

also in there, there's a cut and paste of the .cfg, and also talk of it being capped at 60fps? i think this is complete bullshit, at least for multiplayer, and i hope it is not the case.

Ugh...16 player limit? Who cares if the game has new graphics if they're going to start sticking us with limitations that were overcome with quake 1?

Yeah, I read they were capping it at 60fps to fix some long standing issue that all (id?) games had with faster computers having some sort of advantage in the network code. Sorry if that doesn't make any sense, I don't really remember the details. Might want to check yourself as I could be painting a false picture here.

Hmm, that CTF map doesn't look like anything spectacular. I've seen way better in Q2. The jumping sounds are very reminiscent and just as annoying as Doom 3's (for that model he was using anyway). Other than that, not too shabby at all. The grenade launcher looks like Quake1's, awesome. They better have some good maps, because that's what makes or breaks the game for me. Usually there is nothing that horrible with the weapons or anything. They need to do away with q2dm1 (The Edge) already. Regurgitations of it just don't work in other games.

F.E.A.R. is great. Except for the overboard cussing. I dont notice any better frames than in the demo though. Hopefully someone will do a review and benches, such as FS.

There is no way Im buying Q4 without playing it first. I got duped into Doom3, and was very disappointed.

Some are, yeah. They're supposed to hold off until tomorrow, but there have been certain stores accidentally selling them early. Apparently they got them in on the weekend or last week sometime, but are supposed to hold off until the release date.

You can set it to whatever you want in the settings.cfg file. I run mine at 1680X1050 to match my screen .

I know that. Mine is also set at 1680x1050. I was just commenting on it because that just seems odd with all the larger displays and folks that obviously game at higher resolutions

where do you set the res to 1280x1024 cause i definitely need to do that, i dont understand why they dont support that, i think thats just plain stupid,too many 17" LCDs that run that res to neglect it.

bf2 just supported it with the recent patch...

bf2 just supported it with the recent patch...

go to Shared Documents\Monolith Productions\whatever FEAR directory, open settings.cfg and change the height and width to 1280x1024. When you open FEAR, dont go to the display settings cuz it will revert back to the lowest resolution.
