Everything in the game is maxed. 4xAA 8xAF (although that doesn't have anything to do with the crap texture quality)

I agree that Q4's texture quality is crap (or at least, not nearly as good as it "should" be), but mine doesn't look nearly as bad as that screenshot...

Yes, the same game installed on my buddy's 7800GTX SLI rig looks infinitely better in the TEXTURE department.

Damn it, I hoped somebody has encountered a similar problem. I hate it when I BUY the game and spend time researching how to make it WORK properly.

Getting back to the issue at hand, Terra, glad you were able to serve in the Army of your nation and the UN. I do have respect for such a thing now that you have provided evidence of being such. Problem is anyone can claim anything, so unless someone proves something, I pretty much do not believe it. I am sure you can understand... I mean, what if I claimed to be a Navy Seal? Pretty silly, could be true, but could not be. I actually knew a seal, retired and he scared the crap outa me.. Nice guy though.

Intelligent design is an interesting recent theory, but it may be making a mountain out of a molehill ultimately. I haven't thought enough about it yet, but the thought that an intelligent cause better reflects the world than another explanation (eg evolution) I feel is one of those human projections onto the world: we believe the great beauty, diversity and complexity in the world to be so incredible that it couldn't possibly be by accident. We see amazing things that couldn't possibly be coincidence: eg. a nautilis shell, with its sections each divided in the golden ratio, as well as other amazing mathematical coincides such as this, and some people automatically gravitate towards intelligent design, because the idea is: how could nature possibly be so perfectly organized. It couldn't possibly be by accident, could it?

Because when it all comes down to it, Darwin's theory is all about accidents: traits passed on because they have a statistical probability to allow the organism a greater chance to live and to thrive.

I do agree that mathematics is the language the universe is written in, but I certainly do not take intelligent design as a given. Just because something is structured in a certain way doesn't mean it implies an all-powerful creator. Just because mathematical conventions can accurately predict or describe nature also doesn't imply intelligent design.

Is the ratio of a nautilis shell's segments any more incredible then being able to predict the weather tomorrow or any other type of calculation based on empirical evidence?

In my humble opinion (and I haven't had enough years to develop my own philosophy, so bear with me), theories such as intelligent design are just another evolution of our "desire to believe." In fatally cynical terms, intelligent design is religion for the 20th century.

An interesting concept is the "belief machine" - that humans are nothing more than a self preserving system that constructs beliefs out of its experience.

I'll just end the discussion here for now, but suffice to say that I find intelligent design (when you capitalized it, did you realize the irony that you were referring to it like God is in religion and even philosophy texts?) to be a theory lacking real substantive proof.

Back on topic: I don't know if it's just me, but I find Quake 4 to be extremely boring. The gameplay is seriously dated - it makes Halo 1 seem like a huge leap forward!

Possibly you have missing or corrupt textures?? It might than automatically switch to lower ones??

I have seen Quake 4 on a friends Pc and it look fine texture wise, maybe u could borrow ur friends CD and install it with your key it might be worth a try.

Some are, yeah. They're supposed to hold off until tomorrow, but there have been certain stores accidentally selling them early. Apparently they got them in on the weekend or last week sometime, but are supposed to hold off until the release date.

hate to tell ya this, but guns don't kill either. people kill. a gun can't kill you unless there is some kidn of interaction with it. same with a knife, a baseball bat, or a shoelace.

i'd have to say words do kill. or should i say words make people kill? how many times have you heard of a kid shooting up his school because he was picked on or outcast? how many wars have been fought because someone says their way or their god is better?

I agree with this statement. Words are very powerful and can be full of evil or good. The old saying "Sticks and stones may break my bones, but names will never hurt me" is about as far from the truth as you can get. For instance, a racial slur can send people into a riot... Words are more powerful than people realize.

A racial slur in the US is actually a hate crime. You will get in trouble if you offend someone and if you make a slur in my store you will be asked to leave.

I find racial slurs to be totally pointless. Why even bother insulting people based on this criteria... it's nonsensical!

I just don't get people sometimes when they play race up so much. I personally don't find race to be that big of an issue - I couldn't care less what race my friends are...

It especially confuses me when people thing of a certain race as 'good' or 'bad' . Are we not all people?
