Some are, yeah. They're supposed to hold off until tomorrow, but there have been certain stores accidentally selling them early. Apparently they got them in on the weekend or last week sometime, but are supposed to hold off until the release date.

either of these have joystick support? Half the reason I didn't getting into Doom 3 was the lack of joystick support ( I prefer Joystick + mouse combo )

Lowering 'Texture Resolution' will give you a increase in performance as well as put an end to the stu-stu-stu-stutters

Homocidal rage by supernatural powers that twists a guy to eat a scientist, with corspes and blood every where and you are getting over worked about the liberal use of Fvck that the soldiers use when A.) a Grenade is coming towards them and they know they are going to die. or B.) you just wiped 2 squadmates and they have very little Idea where you are. I think all of us would swear in those senarios, and those are the only times I can remember hearing it.

It was also Nice for me to hear it because outside of the outlandish ment to piss people off type games like GTA and Soldier of fortune you barely ever hear games use that language. We are all adults and it has a M rating, why whouldn't we be ready for "adult Language".

in my experience its only immature teenagers and trailor trash that use "adult language". Adult Language should mean that you are smart enough,old enough, or have a large enough vocabulary to be able to express yourself to others without reverting to language that may offend someone

IME utilizing vocabulary that is considerably beyond the educational experiences of those you are conversing with offends them at least as much as using profanity to those that take offense to it.

Good point. So there has to be some middle ground. We should be able to hold a conversation with our fellow man without offending them. Or you could just avoid poeple who use profanity, if it offends you. And if you have a very limited vocabulary, you can avoid people who use words that you have to look up in the dictionary after you talk to them.

How would you know without playing both of them yourself.

I'm a Quake fan myself, and I have the Q4 Collectors DVD edition. I tried the FEAR demo and quite frankly I didnt like it, "bullet-time" slowmo doesnt get me off anymore. Special effects dont either unless its used to increase realism.. and I've never seen my eyes ripple before, even when around explosions.

People seem to like both though. I am playing Q4 online and love it.
Quake is quake.. its going to have tons of mods ect

The best way to sum up Q4 is Q2 singleplayer and Q3 multiplayer.
Best of both worlds IMO.

I am baffled over the backwards life of many European nations as well. But this really isn't the place to discuss that.

I haven't played Quake 4 but I have played several hours of F.E.A.R. (got it yesterday from Fry's for $37 ) and from the reviews on Quake 4 out there so far it seems to be a great looking game but lacking in terms of gameplay innovation, not that it would really matter to the most of us. Also I've heard the AI in Quake 4 is really lacking while the AI in F.E.A.R. is pretty damn good. Graphically speaking I would say it's hard to compare the two since they are quite different engines (i.e. F.E.A.R. is shader heavy while Quake 4 is not) but both look awesome. I think technically speaking though F.E.A.R. is using a more advance 3D-engine.

Personally I'm gonna get Quake 4 as soon as I finish F.E.A.R. but not before then . . .

As to the difference between cussing and violence is simple. One can be fake or real, the other is only real. Cussing is just that, cussing. There isn't an innocent side to it. Violence, such as video game violence is simply a game that isn't even close to real. There is a huge difference between killing someone on a computer screen and killing them in real life. I most likely coudn't kill anyone in real life, even in self defense type situations.

In my opinion first person shooters are no different than cowboys and indians and cops and robbers that we played as kids. No one today can honestly say that playing cowboys and indians caused some white kid to ruthlessly kill some Indian. Yet, that is the same thing that is going on today with video games and shooters. However, even though this may appear like a contradiction, perhaps to my own limit of virtual violence, I will say that GTA has taken it too far. I would vote for that game banned in this country.

Another game that went overboard was Soldier of Fortune 1 & 2. The game went beyond your innocent type killing to blowing off body parts and watching people die as if they were dieing in front of you. That game made me sick when I played it for the first time and never played it again. I guess each person has their own tolerance of virtual violence. For instance, Quake3 didn't bother me at all. Cartoon characters, nothing realistic about it. SoF creeped me out. F.E.A.R. was fine for me because it was put into a military like situation. I guess in the end it is all personal conviction on what is right and what is not. But I certainly believe there is a big difference between a game like Quake3 and say, GTA or SoF.

Cussing on the other hand can only be real. I am not sure how you could "fake" cussing... So my conclusion is that violence can be fake or real, and that cussing can only be real.

Regarding which game is better, I bought both yesterday. Through about 1 hr of gameplay with each, I can say that FEAR is noticably the better game. Q4, although pretty and fast paced, just doesn't strike me as anything special. It feels more like an extention of D3 rather than a continuation of Q2, which I really loved back in the day.

Bottomline, at the end of that hour of play, I couldn't wait to resume where I left off with FEAR. With Q4, I felt indifferent. Just one of the games I'll eventually finish, but I'm not in any hurry.

Admittedly, I haven't tried multiplayer with either game yet, but no doubt this is one area where Q4 will probably rule (based on history).
