Hey Slider76 thanks for the update on the challenge
You been getting some pretty good numbers with your one computer. Approx how many hours does yours run per day? Mine pretty well is running 24/7 except for about 8 hours last night. Also noticed I am up to 10325 now so my parents machine must have finished a WU. Their machine is good for one maybe two a week. It all helps. Thanks for making the challenge.

Wow...I can finally access Anandtech forums! (last couple of days have been timing out!)

Anyway....I have ported all the boxes in my home to F@H. screenshot

I haven't tweaked the installs yet though.
I thought I had my slow boxes set up for WU's without deadlines, but it appears I have not. (46 day deadline)

I also have access to 2 P4 Dell pc's (remote) that I should be able to get ported over soon as well.
I hope F@H won't be closing down soon...kinda tired of hopping. (UD->FAD->F@H)

Welcome to F@H xbassman!!!

MDE has a great F@H install guide that explains client set up and performance tweaks. Here is the link: MDE's F@H Setup Guide To configure your slower computers to run deadlinless wu's you need to reconfigure your client and answer yes to the question "Change Advanced Options". Then just answer yes to "Request work units without deadlines".

Cool!
Ok, here's a dumb question- 30,000 of what? How does that tie into the 1263 work units I submitted?

1. They may be set up properly for WUs without deadlines. There are two deadlines - Preferred and Final Deadline - even the deadlineless WUs have a Preferred deadline after which the WU will be re-issued to another computer (to keep the science moving). You still get credit if the WU results are sent in before the Final Deadline. WUs without deadlines have no Final Deadline.

From the linked picture your slowest box should finish its WU in 26 days so it will be done before the Preferred deadline (whether the points are worth the electricity is up to you).

2. P4 with 512 MB or more of ram can get QMD bonus WUs, they use lots of resources but give a good bonus. To set up for them: config for downloads greater than 5 MB and (with the new 5.04beta console client yes for advmethods) or add the "-advmethods" flag/switch to the startup shortcut (or registry setting if run as service).

I'm going to try and get in a question here so I don't have to start a new thread.

GLeeM, Sid or anyone using FAH LogStats. I have been using version 0.72 ever since I've been folding and it has never shown me PPD or PPW. It does display WU/D and WU/W but not points. Any ideas on why it does this and how to get it to calculate PPD?
Thanks..............

It's not a dumb question!

Athlex, how many computers are you running on?

Where are you getting the "1263" number from?

Different WUs are worth a different amount of points. The "30,000" is the number of points you have.

Your average points per WU - 30,000 divided by 1263 = 23.75

The reason I ask the above questions is because you have submitted 244 WUs for 31,252 points from one computer.

It sounds like the data file isn't updated that gives fah logstats definition on points for each current work unit.

Here's how to update it:

Open fah logstats
click on 'settings' in the menu on the left of the opening screen
click on 'general settings' tab in the settings menu
click on the 'update' button

This does it for me

I have v.0.71 and it shows PPD and PPW and cannot show WU/D or WU/D. Does v.0.72 have anything in "Settings" to change the display to PPD?

Does the "Update" work again or do we need to explain how to do it manually?

There is a settings tab but no selection for for changing PPD that I can find. (unless it is disguised)

I am not following (don't understand) the "Updating" manually question.

Edit: Sid, I did not see your reply at first .......... I did it and it worked. I now see PPD. Thanks.............. to both of you.

Life is good..............................

Actually, I'm kind of confused about the WU/Day and WU/Week displays people are talking about. Where are they seeing this.... I can't find it anywhere on my version (.72)

I thought for a while there (6 - 10 months ago) that the newer proteins would not show even after doing an update.

Someone had a manually edited extra-nfo.csv file with the newest projects and had it for download. I edit it myself with Notepad.

When I saw xbassman's picture with missing info for his P3 @ 933 I figured it was a newer project not in the extra-nfo.csv file

So you are saying that FAH LogStats is now updating with all the current proteins?

EDIT: spelling

Yeah, it seems to be updating correctly now. (I have seen a couple newer protiens delayed a couple weeks, but most of the time it works now)

Yeah, that's what I have too. I see the PPD and the PPW (ie: I see it displaying points per day and week, but I don't see it displaying the number of Work Units per day or week as some have mentioned.

-Sid

PS: I sucked the pix into photodraw and it looks good there)

PPS: I think I misunderstood about the WU/Week and WU/Day stuff. I don't think it exists.

Yup that's right...
Actually I waited a bit to do more installs cause I thought I had installed it wrong on the P3.

I have another question.....
Do you have to run the new "beta" client and -advmethods to get the big point wu's?

And has anybody tried them using AMD vs P4.

My AMD's completely kill the P4 machines that I'll get online soon.
