Shortass, If you get to do 100MHz extra on your FSB, I want in on your secret. I have taken mine from 166 to 173 and thought that was decent (considering my antiquated Motherboard, HSF and RAM). I think it's awsome you have been financing your own hardware. My son is your age (will be 18 in Sept.) and he just sighs when I work on his computer (it's the same as mine). so here's a :beer: to you... er..... when you're 21

For any of you who are interested in beginning to learn how to speed up those monsters, use your motherboard manual and get familiar with how to adjust the Front Side Bus (FSB) frequency (sometimes also called the System Clock). Only bump it up 1 or 2 MHz and 9 times out of 10 your system will behave just fine. But remember, it is when you start fooling with those system voltages that you risk damage to your components, so hands-off unless you are familiar with how to monitor critical temperatures, how high is too high, etc....

Now since those in front of me are leaving me in the dust and those behind me won't catch up for a while..... my best challenge to all of you is to learn how to adjust that FSB.... just one (more) MHz

Wonder if I can get them to refund my shipping (even though it was free) since it was 2nd business day.

Sounds like a limit imposed by a lock. What kind of memory do you have? What is stock for your setup?

Remember, the hardest part of this challenge is picking up that manual and learing the ins and outs of the features that are available to you with your particular system.

Memory is Corsair XMS and Mushkin Blue (both 2-3-3-6).

I've tried using a single stick. Tried upping it up to 2.8V. It doesn't want to budge.

Haven't messed with in months though. 200x10 (2-3-3-11) is perfectly stable and under full load is @ 47°C

I actually think the CPU is a dud myself. I can't get it above a certain limit with any combination though. Even If I set the multiplier to 12.5 and drop the FSB drastically. Memory dividers? Nope.

The corsair is rated at PC2700 but it runs PC3200 @ 2-3-2-6 just fine. (MemTest 24 hour verified)

I'll mess around with it tommorow though. I didn't play with it very long after I got my PC3200 Mushkin stick.

I wish I have some sort of better cooling parts for the CPU. XP-90 costs too much for me for my amd 64 2800+ , not to mention the inavailability of panaflo 92mm fan in my place (for reference, ambient temperature 26-31C, chipset 46-48C and CPU 49-60C )

2G out of a barton really isn't a bad overclock, but I am surprised it won't do a little more for you.

I am able to get mine to 2137, but most of that is with the multiplier (12.5).. I have only been able to get my FSB up to 173 (even with CL=2.5). My motherboard isn't a very good overclocker and I have punky RAM.

I do remember reading that there are some RAM modules that actually did a little better with a slightly reduced voltage. Just for giggles see what happens at 2.5 Volts... Lots of RAM is spec'd there and does better than at 2.6 and above.

Oh god, Insidious, if I could OC my FSB 100mhz I'd be a god... or a lamer downclocker just to say I all of a sudden upped it from 100 to 200 >_>. I went from 200x11 (2.2ghz) to 200x12(2.4), and then went to 205x12. I think I then got greedy and went to 217x11.5 or something and started getting mass blue screens. I have PC3500 ram, but it's really ehhh ram, so I can't even get it stable at 217x10. I'm at 210x11 I think right now, but with all these blue screens in the past I've really forgotten. I really want new ram >_<.

Oh, and don't you love 24 hours of folding time on a sweet WU and losing it to a blue screen/corruption? GAH
