Although I crunch F@H for DSL I have found the client to be the easiest to set up and the best at not interfering with other processes.

The release of CPU cycles to allow other programs to run is perfect unlike CPND and SETI on my machine, the only problem being the time limit issue on older machines and 24/7 running on a P400 will just scrap inside the limit.

At the mo I have been toying with running SETI, CPND AND F@H on my 2200+ at the same time with reasonable results, although I have found that I still gravitate back to SETI as the WU's are that much shorter. On my machine one frame takes between 5 & 25 mins depending on the protein and still a whole unit can take a couple of days. Compare that to my P400 that took 10 days of 24/7 running to complete one WU.

Sorry to say I will not be joining but I hope your recruitment drive goes well.

I and a few others have found that SETI and CPND (climate prediction.net) are both running on priority idle-4, whereas I believe F@H runs at idle-1. To get FAH and SETI running together select the low priority setting not idle.

Outlook and IE are the two main problems with opening times being longer than usual, I found an improvement by moving the swap file onto its own partition and making sure it was a fixed size but not a fix per se. (Before that all M$ progs were taking ages to open)

I am thinking it is due to my upgrade version of Win2k (over Win98SE) instead of clean install but have not got round to try and prove the theory. But the funny thing is I never had the same problem on my old P400 running Win98SE and SETI.

Its not bad enough to be a major problem just that it can be annoying.

Yep ,look here ,seems he felt ignored by TA F@H!
I saw that when I was browsing that forum, but decided to hold my tongue (er, fingers) and not say anything; but since you brought it up...

Please realize that the F@H stats system doesn't tell us when someone quits producing, or joins another team. As of yet, I have not been able to come up with a method to monitor this, so I have no way of telling when someone quits. I'm saddened that something that, which we F@H members can not change, is used against us with a my-project-is-better-than-yours attitude.

Thats not the way he put it ,its a shame you have no way of knowing automatically when someones left ,but he did say that no-one noticed when he stopped producing ,do you not have some daily stats?

I do have daily production stats, but given that each day I see about 70 names out of 130 (daily producers, a subset of the weekly producers that are listed each Saturday), there's no way I can remember if I don't see someone this time who I did see before. I wish I could find a way to get the computer to help me do that (it's a goal that I'm going to work on if I have time), but right now the limits of my finite memory prevent this.

Well he wasnt producing when I got back from holiday ( about 2 months ago now) so I assumed he had moved on to another project. Its a real shame to see him go he was having a nice little race with orion7144 for a while there.

I'm not registerd with deception.net so i have no idea what was in that thread....

Registering won't help (I think). Assim forgot (I'm assuming) that that was in a private forum, which was since consolidated into another forum.

To summarize: A member left the SETI team (their stats tell you when someone leaves one team and joins another), and wrote to one of the current members about why. Basically, he was going to join another team, for whatever reason I can't remember (and am too lazy to go back and dig up the thread right now ). He also included a little rant (could it be called that?) about how the F@H TeAm didn't care that he quit running F@H.
