Actually no...full retail.
Vista SP 2 won't install and I'm beyond flustered. I've posted in the right place to get help, this is my pissed off thread.
And $3 is what I figured the DVD and packaging cost them. Including shipping.
I got in on the Feedback Panel deal. I ended up with 2 complete sets of Vista 32 bit and 64 bit mailed to me.
I did a full restore/install on my old P4 Northwood and it runs fine...but my Soundblaster Live card wouldn't work no matter what "workaround" or modded drivers I tried.

And you think that materials is the bulk of the cost for a software company? I mean, sure, maybe outsourcing programmers saves some money but they aren't free even in India.
You're better off pirating windows than buying it IMO. Or at least cracking it when you pay for it. The last time I owned a legitimate copy, I had an activation issue which took about 10 phone calls over the course of 3 weeks to get fixed. And of course, all of the support centers were based in India.
Wait, what? The OS is the LAST thing you want to pirate. Can we say "virus"? And not necessarily easy "Ok, I ran norton over it, it should be clean" types of viruses either.
Not to support piracy, but you do know there are ways to check to see if an iso is clean right? w/ 100% confidence
I bought, windows 7 preorder, then got in 4 copies from IEEE, then got 4 more copies from school. through MSDNAA, which are retail but not really... but really are... but not really
Actually just check the hash of the ISO against the known clean ones provided my MS. If they match, you know that the files are identical and the ISO hasn't been modified. Not really, if the ISO has been tampered with IE Cracked, there is no way to verify that it is clean 100%. Custom virus + OS = big trouble. A good virus doesn't show up when you log in, it remains hidden.
"Hello customer. Please spend $189 for each of your computers for our Operating System. Please note that just because you are spending $600 for a product that has a cost of $3, that does not mean that we are going to treat you well. As a matter of fact, we are going to provide ZERO support for your purchase."
