A game pad is still way better than the keyboard, but a wheel is the best way to play a racing game. I'm getting this for Xbox 360 because I have the 360 wheel. Plus, I want to play this on the couch.

Nah, still saving up for a wheel. I have a 360pad and in sims like GTR Evolution I usually finish in the midfield of the best guys around who all have wheels.

With the right settings you can easily compete with the average wheel user. Its just waaay harder

Im gonna get a wheel before the end of the year though.

Well Steven Hood worked on the Grand Prix series of games. I've never played any of them but I hear they are full sims.

well thats good. codemasters are definitely capable of sims, so it will be interesting to see what they make of it. from the videos ive seen, it looks like it should be the best f1 sim period without question... all the suspension parts are modeled seperately, and they physically react against forces just as real life... so its not like wheels bumping up and down, its all dependent on all the various world interactions. you can see it in the vids too, the wheel hops and stuff look extremely realistic.

also the sound is actual real-life recordings from each f1 car. so each motor will have different sounds, but they all sound exactly like the real thing because it is the real sound. and the surrounding buildings you drive by all have predetermined acoustical values so what you hear bouncing off the walls is a real-time representation of what those specific buildings sound like when you drive by them.

should make for a lot of fun. a force feedback wheel might be on order for this game....

no kidding! the ONLY thing im still worried about is the handling .. but this is not an arcade game and codemasters has proven in the past that they know sims. its just been awhile! (toca 3!)

Wow, that first person cam is incredible.

Imagine playing this on a big screen so everything is life like in size, I think if I got into an accident I'd feel sick.

iRacing is definitely one of the best racing sims out there. I just cant bring myself to pay monthly for it, especially since that money would be better spent on a wheel

Its not a option for me. Living in Africa and all. The other race sim I play is GTR (developed by racing drivers)

The other problem I have with iRacing is the cars they have, Im not big into nascar and stock car, but I heard they got the Williams F1 car there.

Codies do have a super lag compensation system. The one is dirt2 is awesome, very smooth and no hopping around all over the place even when I with guys in the US. F1 is likely going to have the same thing so MP is going to be fun.
