F1 coming to NJ in 2013

I'm a little confused by:

According to two people familiar with the matter, the London-based racing circuit will announce next week that the Formula One Grand Prix of America will take place in June 2013 on a road course mapped out in Weehawken and West New York along the Hudson River—against the backdrop of the Manhattan skyline.

In May 2010, F1 announced a plan to return to the U.S. The Formula One Grand Prix of America will be held in November 2012 at a $250 million purpose-built racetrack in Austin, Texas. The Grand Prix in New Jersey will mark a second U.S. race on the 2013 calendar, these people said

So I presume they will rename the Austin race in 2013 to something else. Only thing that makes sense since they have a multiyear contract for F1 at the Austin circuit.

I read that as the race at the Austin track to be called the Grand Prix of America. Then there will be a race in New Jersey later in the calender which has yet to be named.

Oh and The Austin track has multiple races. 2012, 2013, so on. Whereas the once in Jersey is only 2013 thus far. I'd assume race in Austin one week followed by race in Jersey a week or two later?

f1 usually does 10 year contracts for a venue. the austin race was re-scheduled for november because of the blazing heat in the summer. i expect the nj race to be a week after the montreal race, early summertime.

Having driven that road quite a few times I think it will make for a heck of a track with the elevation changes. It also follows into Ecclestone's dream to get some American sponsorship money into F1. With European banks being some of the bigger/est sponsors it seems important to get some US banks/companies as sponsors as Euro banks aren't in the greatest of shape and if there is some sort of public EFSF money put into bank capital they may be limited in their support ability.

Seems like a slam dunk to get a race in the US financial district and I could see this being one of the premier events of the year. Sorry for Austin but if that race track ends up where people think it is going to end up this will be a premier road course on the same line as Canada/Monaco.

some have 12 or 15. no matter how many, the price goes up 10% every year. as the price goes up, they either pay up or make room for somebody else. expect turkey, hungary and the gp of europe to disappear.

While I welcome another US race I would rather it be at a dedicated race track. Other than Monaco I really don't care for street races, they tend to be boring with little passing.

They will be hitting 200MPH.

That place at Weehawken can make a dead ringer of Macau f3 track and the monte Carlo race. And the monster trucks are close by.

the races are on a channel that isn't included in basic and are usually on really early in the morning (5 am west coast). they'd have to start the races later in europe if they really want a big US tv exposure. and get on a better channel.

Now they air 4 or 5 races during the summer on Fox in the afternoons in addition to the rest on speed.
