I erased my Facebook long ago...I suggest you do the same.

I can't wait till this shitty ass Facebook fad is over. I'm sick of people hounding me when they ask for my FB and I tell them I don't have one and never will. They turn into some sort of FB religious freaks and spend a good minute or 2 breaking down everything they believe I'm missing out of in life due to not having one blah blah blah.
This.

Jesus, did someone call the waaaahmbulance? Get over yourself. Nobody gives a shit if you use Facebook or if you don't. If you stopped using it, great. Most people find it a really handy tool for keeping in touch, planning events, and sharing information about themselves.
You have #6. Congratulations.
But see, this is the problem: No one wants information about you. Or anyone else. Or at least, they shouldn't. The fact that they do says volumes about these people's lives.
Whenever I hear "social networking" or whatever buzzword is attached to the current interact-with-people-without-actually-interacting-with-people trend, I always think of
this, which is one of the better commentaries I've seen on the whole situation.
Yeah, I have a rage issue. Where was any rage in that post? He's just a dick that constantly bitches about how retarded Facebook is. Nobody cares about his opinion. Or mine.
I guess your problem with Facebook is that you don't really have any friends or relatives or that you've friended every person under the sun.
Facebook has given me a chance to develop much closer relationships with my cousins, who I rarely ever see because our parents don't really like each other. It allows me to easily keep in touch with friends halfway around the world and see what their up to without pestering them with emails or phone calls. I can keep tabs on friends without bothering them, which is nice sometimes.
When I do have something to share, Facebook is a great place to do it. See, I know that nobody outside of my friends gives a fuck about photos from my weekend camping, but if I put them on Facebook, all my friends can see them. Posting on Facebook, IMO, is much less intrusive on people's lives than hosting a gallery and sending out massive emails to everyone you know. It just works. I like that.
Updates are probably the single most annoying thing in Facebook, but even those have some value. Most of the people I'm friends with don't constantly update about what they're eating, but they post about local events they're going to or hosting or whatever. Again, Facebook, for me, is an incredible passive information stream. I use what I like, ignore what I don't.
Sure, it's cool to hate all over Facebook, but the truth is that it's a great idea with brilliant execution and, as long as you don't friend every stupid asshole you meet, it's actually pretty fucking useful.
But hey, that's just my opinion, and truthfully, nobody gives a fuck about that, either.
