Might want to make it a class action suit. Let Javascript and Flash get in on the action.

Certainly. I liked the OLD old Facebook. Back before applications, before the news feed, hell, back when the "Wall" was an actual wall, not a myspace-esque comments section.

Dear god yes. As soon as FB was open to everybody, it went down the shitter.

They are both basically the same, but Facebook at least doesnt allow users to apply disgusting 'themes' to their profiles.

lol, wtf?

They're more similar by the day, cause of fucking Applications on Facebook. I get probably at least one Application invitation from a friend everyday. They need an option to block that fuckin garbage.

You can block them in your notification settings or something like that. I've blocked everything except friend and event invites.

Ever hear of a telephone? You can't have very real contact through these sites. Or at least there are much better ways of making more significant contact.

If you feel the need to reduce yourself to a simple webpage for your friends to keep in contact with, instead of actual interpersonal relationships, then go with Facebook IMO. No where near the amount of <18 year old kids, less flashy crappy pages, etc.

If you move around a lot and/or have friends that live thousands of miles away it is a nice way to keep in contact. I have contacted friends I have not seen in years due to them living thousands of miles away with these networking sites.

Yes, and I have most of my facebook friends' numbers. Also, it's nice to be able to plan a party and invite 20 friends with a few mouse clicks (after which they will receive an e-mail notification) as opposed to 20 phone calls.

It's simply a more efficient means of communication. Obviously it doesn't measure up to an actual conversation. Nothing technological does.

Also, the biggest difference between myspace and facebook is Networks. While this is more applicable to high school and college, you can privatize your profile in ways not available on myspace. If I want to be open to everyone on campus but not the rest of the world, I can do so.

Facebook is also much more limiting than myspace, and thus relatively streamlined/clean.

Sometimes you don't have their phone number. I used myspace/facebook to find then contact people I have not seen in years.

Well, I have a Facebook account now.
One thing I wonder about is how to limit what is seen. One friend is sending me literaly dozens of silly "requests" per week. I havea few work contacts on my account, so I don't want to spam them with "updates".
Also, how can I post essyas and videos and music? I don't want to alert everyone when I do it, just post it and if they want to they can access it. Any ideas???

Exactly, they've been becoming a lot closer.

About none of the features added to FB since I got on were worthwhile.

You probably don't have ANY friends.

I fail to see any correlation between not liking myspace/facebook and having friends. Please feel free to show how not using myspace/facebook has anything to do with friends.

This is the sole reason to have an account on one of these sites. Other then that I don't see a use for it.

As for the "invite 20 friends with a few mouse clicks rather then 20 phone calls", I can't tell you the last time I made 20 phone calls to go do something. I just send one text to my friends in my phone I want to invite. It is the exact same thing, just *for me* is better. For me these sites make me feel much less connected to friends. You lose part of that human interation through calls/text/IM conversations. Sure it does the same as those, but I just don't like it. I can't tell you how many times I have been told to get a myspace/facebook page. I just have no interest in one what so ever. They are de-evolving into the cesspool of the internet at an exponential rate IMO.

I can see girls being big into these sites, but I don't see guys being big into them(though I know they are). All the guys I know are like the typical guy, they hate yacking on the phone, getting updates from ______'s latest shit to what they did 2 seconds ago etc. These people who need to be in communication all the time are sorta weird.

MySpace allows its idiot users to blast you with shitty music as soon as you load the page.

Facebook, at least as far as I've seen, does not allow its idiot users to do this.

Flash would stand next to the accused.

On this continuum, Flash websites (and ads) are right there in that enclosed 110° room.

People think MySpace is a social networking site, but they're being fooled. It's a large scale scam to remind people what the internet was like in the mid-1990's. Think flying toasters.
