You have the wrong networking site.
don't mind him, he's just old... so he uses the whole emo thing as an excuse in every Facebook thread. Nobody his generation uses it so it's really of no use to him anyway. If he has friends/relatives constantly posting personal pics and updates then he'd see the real value of a site like this.
As for responding to the OP... I really don't want to friend them but a couple have come my way and I'm not the kind of person to ignore but since being friended not a single correspondence has happened so I really don't know why they bothered. I have friended co-workers that I actually talk to outside of work though. I've blocked names matching my boss, etc. so hopefully they won't even see me on there. It's not about being paranoid, it's about not having to worry at all about what is being posted/said "accidentally".
I also run a worldwide popular hockey fan site and people have found me through there. Dude, I'm not your friend. You don't need to see personal pics of me and what I'm doing at 1230am. Easier to ignore since I never knew them.
You know what I've found most interesting? Everyone from my HS class is friending each other. People you never saw talk to each other and who were at totally opposite ends of the spectrum. It's quite a phenomenon. Turn it into myspace why don't you? Thanks for the add!!!! Anyway, digression...
