These CJD (qm3) work units are putting my stats in the toilet that last few days. They are taking so looong. Although I cant wait till the dump. I also have a qzy cancer unit that has been computing for the last 7 days, FaDspy is predicting 21000. Hope so!

When I look at everyone else's stats, I seem to be alone on this... and taking a few machines off of FaD does not help.

I initially set my machine to only accept CJD jobs, and I couldn't even get any. Of course, now I know that is due to whatever problem my machine has in general. Going to try a fresh Windows install tomorrow, and that should hopefully take care of it.

I'm also working on one of those CJD right now, already spent 314,000 seconds on it (=3,5 days) and it's still only at 85% ... but hell yeah, those points sure gonna feel good once it's dumped!

I've been doing a lot of CJD jobs ... that's why my increased numbers of computers aren't showing in the stats much.

Yeah ... I will get a big bump in points when they get done!!

Just keep crunching and don't worry about stats so much.

Let me correct my previous post ...

I do a whole LOT of jobs every day ... everything except commercial. That has included a significant number of CJD jobs.

Lately I've been going after the long running jobs ...

Why?? ... Well there are reasons for that.

1. Efficiency: There is a brief period of time between jobs when the computers are idle. Long jobs = Less job changes (and less lost time)
2. Long jobs tend to have higher hits not that I really care about hits but I'm trying to rub it in that I have a whole bunch more hits than someone who thinks this whole project is about hits (it isn't - low hit jobs may actually be MORE significant than high hit jobs)
3. Less jobs complete so there is less cleanup in my queue servers ... less completed jobs to purge from the queue. They stack up pdq for me. I basically run the hordes from only five Queue servers ... which means the Queue servers get slower if the number of files in the FaD directory increases so I keep the number of files down by purging all completed jobs.
4. Most of my computers run 24x7 so long jobs let them settle in and process more efficiently.

As I said, don't worry about the stats. Crunch what you like but don't fret about day to day stats.

If you think these are long running jobs ... you should have been around when they were handing out the 1HYV-Q3 ... those jobs ran forever ... some for well over a month on very fast computers!!! (of course, they also had HUGE HIT counts). The 1YET's were long runners too with low hits.

Keep as many computers busy with FaD as possible and don't worry about the day-to-day stats.

...

So ... notice that my daily production is wa-a-a-a-a-a-y-y-y-y-y-y down.

Wait till those CJD jobs wrap up and the hordes submit those results ... bwaahahaaaaa.

Looks like I was wrong. It hadn't started at the time I tried to set up to run CJD jobs.

7-Mar-05 CJD project starts

Is there any way to specifically request these big jobs? I have a couple of fast PCs that would love to be 'stressed out' by them.

Also, how do you get FADSpy to report an estimated point total? Mine gives very nice stats on the current status, estimated completion time, etc., but the estimated points field is always empty..

i manually load up the queues on my machines so all i do his hit "Receive" and then download as many 1QM3-Q3 jobs as possible if you are running a queue across a network you can probably download a bunch of them and then manually assign them to a certain PC and that should work as well.

I would also like to hear an answer to the question about FaDSpy...

When I have fadspy open to the jobs tab and jobs that are running I just click on details and it always gives me an estimated points.

Sometimes I would not get an estimate, but that was only when my estimated CPU rating was blank. I always figured that it did not recognize my CPU. But, sometimes it would and then it would later go blank.

all units for FaD are a good thing  these i guess you could say are "bigger" and should garner you a lot of points when completed.

Just had my first CJD job finish. Took a couple of days on my Athlon64 3500+, with most of the time spent and hits occuring in the last couple of per centage points. Final tally, 173 hits.
