I've been participating in the beta ... I believe it is extremely important to the project.

There have been significant failures in the beta program ... but this is what is to be expected. NO SOUR GRAPES HERE.

What this does mean is that one of my hordes is AWOL at this time. "I've fallen and I can't get up" to quote a TV ad.

I could revert to 1.25g (last production release) and get them crunching again however I am staying the course because the project needs to resolve such issues in a graceful way before the next production release. This is certainly as important as the results because it may lead to a more functional, capable, and efficient client -- i.e., doing more with less.

I suspect that I will be taking a back seat (to others) often as this beta progresses. Thanks for those who are stepping up and grabbing the brass ring.

I revel in the increased production of this team! That is definitely a good thing.

Please be patient with me as we move forward over the next weeks.

p.s ... I've also fired a shot over the bows at hob (definitely a sore and sour grapes loser). I would appreciate all the support this team can muster in that respect. His post in the 1.30b beta thread is definitely a personal attack. That kinda crap should be reserved to other forums and certainly has no place in a thread dedicated to serious business.

BTW ...

THINK sometimes visits team forums ... I assert that THINK will never grace us with a post here because I am a pariah and an anathema to the FaD project based on his biased opinions of me.

It seems that from the management on down at FaD, I am universally reviled.

Sorry folks ... I may be abandoning this project unless THINK reverses that opinion of me personally. THINK is two faced ... he accepts my results but reviles me in public.

Sorry ... THINK just pisses me off sometimes with his inability to deal with problems in a rational and objective manner.

My beta hordes are down ... and he has no clue why. Neither do I.

His latest suggestion made me believe he is an absolute idiot or that he takes me for one.

"... in the folder, create an empty file named THINK.EXE ... " er ---- ah ---- there is already an executable called THINK.EXE in the folder -- so I deleted it and created an empty file called THINK.EXE. As I did this I knew that there would no longer be an executable to run. Yep ... it worked ... there is nothing to execute any longer. So I took his suggestion on all the hordes ... nothing is running any longer.

Suits me. This is the most ridiculous fix I have ever heard of!

Mondo, those instructions were ammended to be for Linux..

"If you are having problems with 1.30b under Linuxand jobs failing which were started with 1.30b, just create a file named think.exe in the same folder as the rest of the software and it will switch to file based updates of the queue."

Clearly there is a check from even linux for think.exe, but in linux, exe is not a required extension...

Rename .new to .exe

and replacing the files in the folder with them, also search the HD for any other files with the same name, there was a reply saying someone found loader.exe in the %systemroot% folder.. so it would be worth a boo..
