Blogs. We used to call them forums. Now they are blogs. Podcasts. I hate podcasts. I dont know why, but I do.
Blogs != forums. Blogs generally have one or a few authors who update regularly (typically 1 - 7 times a week, but some are more extreme). Comments are typically opened to allow for discussion, but not every web page with comments is a forum.
One of my most hated fads is blog hatred. Saying you hate blogs is just silly because blogs are so incredibly varied that it's basically like saying you hate written content. There are high quality blogs for virtually any subject you could conceive of. Like programming? Check out Coding Horror or Joel on Software. Interested in science? Maybe you'll like arXiv blog, Neurologica or Bad Astronomy . Or maybe you're more interested in tech news, in which case Dvorak Uncensored or Tech Crunch might take your fancy.
All of these publications contain high-quality, well written and frequently updated news and commentary. Why would you auto-hate them just because they're "blogs"?
