I'm watching my clients a bit closer these days and my interest and available time waxes and wanes.

I see these robust GPU clients that are worth over a thousand points (5903 - 1680) but they take a long time to complete. Is it worth the time to have the adv flag posted to get the larger or experimental units or are we producing more without the flag?

Additionally, which is better for the Stanford braintrust to have?

Finally, am I benefitting from running two smp clients and one GPU client per card? I recall running two smp's is cool until you shut one down. The other one resets and starts from zero calling a new unit, losing the work that was completed.

Your thoughts folding team?

Best,

I think the -Adv flag is worth it, especially on the high end cards. I have a couple of 8800GTS that hover around the 3500 - 3800 ppd mark with the flag on or so, I will be dropping the -adv flag on the 8800's just to see if this helps or not since you have brought this up.

I have been looking at the WU's 59xx, that are worth now 1888 Points and WU's 57xx, that are worth 768 points and my PPD for each with the GTX 260 are approx the same. As for the lower PPD WU's, Some are a bit greater in production and some are a bit less. So, I think they all come out in the wash, so to speak. What I like about the latest WU's are the lower temperatures to the GPu's.

Running 2 smp's, I seem to only have gained around 500- 700 PPd. And the safest way to shut them down is to just reboot your rig. And nowadays, if your WU is not complete, it will send what points it has accumulated and send them to Stanford. So far, ever since I have been doing this, I haven't lost a unit yet. Still, there are no guarantees. Somewhere, Sid has mentioned this recently.

As for "what is better for stanford", I would think all, but that is a very good question for the better informed, than I could answer.
