Failed First Driving Test:(!

damn I had so many hours of practice and feel very comfortable driving safely. I was too nervous after examiner got inside the car, I pulled off alright made several stops at stop signs, than nice three point turn and than parallel parked, on the way back to starting point I made wide turn and boom I failed, the worst part that in NYC you gotta wait month and half to retake it. Anyone know how I feel ...

you took one wide turn and you fail? wtf?
i know people in my area that sped, almost hit a biker, nipped a curb, and couldn't back up straight and still passed with a score of like 76.

Where did you take your test?

Did you take it in Staten Island? They have a high failure rate in SI because they are a bunch of tightwads down there. I should know since I failed my first test too way back when. I took my second test in LI without any problems afterwards.

Goodluck - you'll get it next time. Just got unlucky. On my test he asked me to park on the side of the road and as a test he asked at the time when I'd end up parking in front of a fire hydrant - which I did. Oops! Only docked a point or something but in the end I got it no problem.

I failed once for failing the parking test (hit the cones). I deserved to fail and think they should test for this in SoCal indescriminantly. Nobody can park here.

I failed a second time unjustly. My lane was turning right onto a street and the lane merged with the far right lane. It was full of speeding traffic so I slowed in my lane (the merging lane) and waited until traffic subsided.

The raging DMV bitch told me to drive back immediately. When I asked if she'd have preferred that I plow into traffic, she told me just to drive back.

Driving tests are too easy in my opinion and should be reasonably hard.

yeah practice more... but if you fail the next one then I dont think you should be driving at all...

I have a friend who had to take the test 4 times before she passes... and she gets into more accidents than anyone i know... her car is all scratched up from hitting walls/polls/cars, and who knows how high her insurance is now... I truly believe she is a danger to others and should not be driving...

passed on first shot, in the snow no less, but while driving back, i was going a little too fast to make a turn and the dude slams on the brake and was like "dude, blah blah, i told you to turn before, you messed that up" scared the beejezus outta me, so im thinking i failed and whatever....but i pull over, and he tells me i passed and to take my turns slower next time...w00t~!

Wduaqnug, I know exactly how you feel, except I made my wide turn right away. I took the test up in the Bronx, and that little man, the inspector, killed me on my first turn and sent right me back to the start point. The next time (TWO months later... they were that booked), I rocked the test, despite many unplanned hazards (including a stopped school bus, and a guy driving down the street in the wrong lane). I had a much better inspector, and a better car, too, so that helped, I suppose.

I need to take the driving test. Where in the bronx did you take it? Castle Hill? I think thats where I'm going to take mine, I hear one old guy, he fails everyone. Some people pass you easier than others.

I can still remember the d!ck during my driving test 6 years ago... I'm doin' all good, then we pull into an absolutely empty parking lot... guy says 'back in over there', and points off in a general direction.. so I back perfectly into a spot. 'THIS ISNT THE SPOT I SAID, NOW TRY AGAIN' um... you pointed dude... you didnt get out and say this one... there were no cars to reference or anything... go funk yourself... so he points again and makes sure he points at a spot... so i'm all nervous and park like crap, over the line... 'ONE MORE TIME' so I take about 10 minutes and park it where he wants, I thought I was gonna fail, but he passed saying I needed work on backing in.

There were specific testers that failed kids under 18 no matter what if they were being tested for the first time. I remember this clearly. I did nothing wrong on my test. Had a perfect parallel park and the guy still failed me arbitrarily. In fact, I took drivers ed for the test and did fine.

The guys in the SI DMV just happened to be pricks.

You dont fail for one thing unless its a "dangerous manuver" (at least here). You got pts taken off somewhere else and that just brought you over the limit. Go "practice" and pass the next time.

The test I took over here in Central FL was a complete joke. I didn't even have to go on the road, just stayed on a little course. All i had to do was, turn onto course, stop at stopsign, back up in a straight line, make a 3 point turn (with arrows painted on the road so it was impossible to screw up), and pull into a normal parking space. No wonder everyone drives like a psycho around here.

Dude, you don't know what you're talking about. I'm looking directly at the little print-out they gave me: "Dangerous Actions: (none)". If they want, they can take off way more than the maximum allowed to pass on one maneuver. For my one turn, the guy took off six different kinds of points!

As for where in the Bronx I took it, I can't remember exactly... it was near the Staples store, a few blocks down Broadway from Manhattan College (yes, it's in the Bronx, they moved many, many years ago). Like 238th, maybe? The location, IIRC, is listed on the NYS DMV site.

man this thread brings back a bad memory, i used my sisters car for the test because i thought it would be easier than my parents cars (she has a little pos elantra = small) of course i forget that the parking brake is in a different place and i didnt take it off. i did the whole parallel parking test with my car squeeking like crazy and jerking back and forth. it was so hard to parallel park with the car jerking like that but i did it ! when he got in the car he was all "is the brake all the way off" and i looked down i was like F%)$( !!! then of course i had my driving test with the sun in my face, a drunk guy walking in the extremely busy street, and rush hour traffic on major roads. oh well its all over now and i got my license. Good luck getting it on your next shot

That's ass.. my driving test was 8 mins according to the radio in my car and was so freaking easy it was laughable.
