Suddenly I can't connect to the internet anymore. My 1394 connection says it's connected, but I can't access any web pages. When I try to repair the connection, it says "Failed to query TCP/IP Settings". So I tried ipconfig /release and /renew and all it says is "Windows IP Configuration" and that my local area connection has its media disconnected. So I'm trying to rename the tcpip.sys files as suggested here at post #10

But I can't disable Windows File Protection so it automatically creates a new tcpip.sys file whenever I rename it to disable it. I'm not sure how to disable Windows File Protection for Win XP Pro sp 3 either.
