Failed Very Public Wedding Proposals

There was a guy Saturday night that asked his girlfriend to marry him at the local minor league ball game I was at. She said yes, but I kept hoping she'd say no, haha.

Public proposals are for douchebags. What woman wants to be put on the spot in front of a bunch of strangers egging her on to say yes? Even if she would have said yes in private, the public aspect has to be humiliating and insulting.

Why would you do this? Even if you know the answer will LIKELY be yes, why would you want to take a personal, private moment and put it in front of hundreds/thousands of strangers? I just don't get it.

A) You have been brainwashed by hollywood "love" and believe that proposing in that way is "romantic" and is what every girl wants. In other words, you're an idiot.

B) You need attention and/or believe your girl needs attention. The guy/girl want there to be an announcement for everybody in the world to know that you two are together, when really nobody else gives a shit.

Public proposals are pretty much shit IMO. Besides, these are all boring and unoriginal. If you're going to do it in public, then do it like the dude in this thread is going to where it is unique and meaningful to you two. Sure the dude proposed where they first met, but it was at a freakin mall food court. What girl wants to get proposed to there? The sports games are just sooooo cliche that anybody who does them should get rejected. Shows a lack of any originality or creativity. Although some people are into that.

Watching the videos of these failures makes me feel so much better about myself. Why would you do this? I feel terrible for the women, if the roles were reversed I would probably say no just for spite because the douchebag was putting me on the spot like that.

I've had girl friends straight up tell they would say no if someone publicly proposed to them.. because it assumes that she would say yes, and there's wayyy too much pressure to say yes. Last thing a girl wants is to feel pressured or tricked into something. It can be a power play.

The only time I would consider it ok is if they had seriously talked about marriage beforehand and he knew damn well that she wanted to say yes... otherwise, he's just a douche.

My wife told me I could not, under any circumstances, propose to her on the big board at a 49ers game. So, instead, I did it at one of her graduate classes - I got the whole thing on video, too. I knew she'd say yes since she had designed the ring (she did not know I had it made, yet, though.)

I proposed to my wife while we were in our pajamas on Christmas Eve morning while sitting on her parents couch (just us at the house at the time)

Didn't even get down on one knee or anything like that (would of if I'd of thought anything other than "omgomgogmogmgom!" in my head at the time.

I knew she'd say yes but you can't help but have that sliver of doubt that it'd be a no for whatever various reason.
